The Fulton by Jean-Georges Introduce
In a city defined by its waterfronts, few dining experiences are as quintessentially New York as a meal with a view of the Brooklyn Bridge. **The Fulton by Jean-Georges** is a restaurant that not only offers this stunning backdrop but also elevates it with a menu crafted by one of the world's most acclaimed chefs. This is not just a place to eat; it is a destination. Located at the historic South Street Seaport, The Fulton is Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten's first seafood-focused restaurant, a project that pays homage to his long-standing love for the city's maritime past. The restaurant's design, with its nautical motifs and a dreamy, hand-painted mural, transports guests to a serene, oceanic world while still providing a direct connection to the bustling city outside. It is a harmonious blend of sophistication and comfort, making it a perfect spot for a special occasion, a romantic date, or a memorable dinner with friends.
The Fulton's culinary philosophy is rooted in a deep appreciation for fresh, high-quality seafood, a direct nod to the neighborhood’s history as the home of the former Fulton Fish Market. The menu is a celebration of the sea's bounty, featuring an impressive array of crudos, raw bar selections, and expertly prepared seafood entrees. While the stunning views are a major draw, the food is designed to be equally captivating. Dishes like the **Seared Diver Scallops** and the whole **Dover Sole Grenobloise** showcase a level of finesse and flavor that discerning diners have come to expect from a Jean-Georges establishment. Beyond seafood, the menu includes a well-curated selection of meat and vegetarian options, ensuring there is something for every palate. The bar offers a wide range of beverages, from great cocktails and a carefully selected wine list to local beers, perfectly complementing the meal. While some reviews suggest a focus on the view over the food, others praise specific dishes and the overall experience, indicating that the true pleasure of dining here lies in the perfect marriage of ambiance and cuisine.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1The location and night view of this restaurant are truly stunning, especially with the twinkling lights creating a relaxing atmosphere—perfect for photos. The scenery alone makes it worth the visit. However, the food was a bit disappointing, with a lower cost-performance ratio; you might get better or similar quality elsewhere for the same price. We booked for a Friday dinner and noticed quite a few empty seats upstairs, though service was smooth. One concern was that a companion felt unwell after the meal, possibly due to unfresh clams—suggesting the restaurant pay attention to ingredient quality. Overall, it’s a great spot for the view, but temper expectations for the food. Oh, by the way, out of all the dishes, the dessert was the best.
July 14 · BellaThe Octopus was tender and the mozzarella was fresh. The calamari salad was fantastic much better than I thought I would like it. The black bass was cooked to perfection has was the hamburger. But let's talk about why you would come here. The food is on point but you're really here for the view. Special day bring that special someone.
August 20 · Daniel VelezThe view was truly stunning, especially at night when the Brooklyn Bridge lights up. The seafood was so fresh and sweet — the raw clams were especially delicious. We ordered them twice!I had seen other reviews praising the octopus and fries, but maybe the chef has changed. The cooked dishes were all quite mediocre. The fries and scallops were especially disappointing. It's still a reasonably priced restaurant overall.
May 23 · Alexandra WuWe came to Fulton at Pier 17 last night for a friend’s birthday, and it was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had in New York.First, we waited over an hour just to be seated. After another 30 minutes, we finally got the oysters and shrimp—only to find the oysters shockingly tiny. We gave them the benefit of the doubt, assuming it might be seasonal. Then came the second course, 20 minutes later, and after that… nothing. For almost an hour, we waited for the next dish. We tried to flag down multiple servers, but they either ignored us or walked right past us without even making eye contact. It was unbelievable.Eventually, about an hour after the second dish, the rest of the food was brought out all at once. The fries were cold, so we asked for a new batch—and guess what? The second batch was still cold, even after waiting another 10 minutes. The lobster was extremely salty, and one of the dishes the server strongly recommended—the beans—looked and tasted like leftover food. No exaggeration—we couldn’t even eat it.To sum it up:• Unacceptable service• Long waits between courses• Cold food served twice• Unappetizing and poorly prepared dishesWe had high expectations because of the location and the reputation, but this was a huge disappointment. Never coming back
July 29 · DorisI visited The Fulton by Jean-Georges before a scheduled concert since it’s right next to the pier. I sat inside with an amazing waterfront view, which made the experience even more special. The service was excellent, attentive and very knowledgeable about the menu. I truly enjoyed the dining experience and indulged in all the delicious flavors. Highly recommend!
