The King Deli Introduce
For decades, the neighborhood deli has been a pillar of the New York culinary experience, and The King Deli in South Richmond Hill, Queens aims to fill that role for the local community. Situated in the heart of the area, this spot is classified simply as a Restaurant but operates with the speed and function of a classic New York-style deli, specializing in making your favorite sandwiches and fast-food staples.
The core offering here is the Quick bite, which makes it a popular destination, particularly for Lunch. Locals rely on this type of eatery for morning grab-and-go options like the iconic Bacon, Egg, and Cheese, as well as midday heroes and wraps. The atmosphere is definitively Casual, designed for local users who need a fast, satisfying meal while they're on the go or taking a quick break.
It’s important for local users to understand that as a busy neighborhood institution, The King Deli focuses on efficiency. Reviews suggest that while the establishment is clearly a fixture—some customers find it "good"—there can be a challenge with both wait times and order accuracy during peak periods. As a highly functional, local spot, the focus is squarely on serving the community's demand for speed and the types of comfort food only a New York deli can provide, such as the famous Chop Cheese sandwich.
For new or prospective customers, setting expectations is key. This is a local deli, not a fine dining establishment. Its value lies in its convenience and its dedication to classic deli fare for Lunch and Dinner.

## What is Worth Choosing
The King Deli is worth choosing for New York residents who prioritize the Chop Cheese and other signature deli staples, value quick service (even with occasional delays), and need a casual, local spot in the South Richmond Hill area for their daily Lunch or Dinner fix.
### The Authentic Deli Menu
This is where The King Deli truly shines. For many New Yorkers, the Bacon, Egg, and Cheese sandwich or a properly prepared Chop Cheese is non-negotiable comfort food. Despite a highly negative review detailing a poor experience with a missed ingredient (no bacon) and incorrect additions (missing lettuce/tomato/condiments), the fact that these specific items—bacon egg and cheese and chop cheese—are mentioned by customers indicates that these are the key, signature offerings that keep people coming back. Patrons should clearly state their order and check it to ensure all ingredients are included, but when done right, these sandwiches are the reason to choose a local deli over a chain.
### Local Convenience and Affordability
The model of a Quick bite and the option for Takeout is perfectly tailored to the demanding schedule of life in Queens. The deli is a highly functional, reliable source of fast food that is likely more affordable than sit-down restaurants. It fulfills the essential role of a community spot where patrons can walk in, grab their food, or sit for a very Casual meal.
### Setting Expectations
It's crucial to acknowledge the reality of any high-volume, neighborhood Deli in New York. Service can be fast, but customer reviews indicate that at times, staff demeanor can be brusque and wait times can extend, especially for made-to-order items. For customers who understand and accept the occasionally rough-around-the-edges, high-pressure nature of a busy city deli, The King Deli offers the genuine product—a locally-run, essential community restaurant serving those quintessential New York sandwiches.
In summary, if you’re in South Richmond Hill and craving a classic, affordable deli meal for Lunch or Dinner, The King Deli is a tried-and-true option for a genuine New York Quick bite.

The King Deli Reviews
This place is absolutely garbage. Went to the deli to go get me a bacon egg and cheese and a chop cheese and the deli guy who takes orders was ignoring me for 10 minutes straight just listening to music on his earphones. Later then some kid asked for a bagel and told him to hurry it up because he had to catch a bus and if he didn’t he would’ve been late. And it took them 5 MINUTES TO GET A BAGEL READY! NOT TOASTED OR NOTHING. All he had to do was put cream cheese on the bread he didn't even need to toast it. The kid went to school late because of that. And then when it was time to take my order. The guy making the sandwiches legit yelled at me for absolutely NO reason. He looked as if he was in his 40s and he looked Hispanic and was wearing a hat. He said I’m impatient and need to wait, i had waited 15 minutes just to order and now I’m impatient? Jesus Christ. Then about a minute later he asked me what I wanted and I told him bacon egg and cheese and chop cheese on a roll with tomatoes and lettuce on the chop cheese. And ketchup and mayo on the bacon egg and cheese. Seemed as if he ignored me when I took my order. It took him around 10-12 minutes to make my sandwiches and then I paid and when I came home to finally eat the sandwiches..I opened the sandwiches and oh my god. NO BACON ON THE BACON EGG AND CHEESE, AND NO BACON ON IT EITHER. HOW DO YOU NOT PUT BACON ON A BACON EGG AND CHEESE? HE STRAIGHT UP GAVE ME A EGG AND CHEESE. Alright, then I opened the chop cheese and I was pissed off so much to the point I was gonna go back to the deli and cuss out the guy. I OPENED THE CHOP CHEESE AND ALL THERE WAS IN THE CHOP CHEESE WAS BREAD AND BEEF. I ASKED HIM SPECIALLY TO PUT THE LETTUCE AND TOMATOES AND NO, he didn’t. It was dry, there wasn’t even mayonnaise or ketchup. ON BOTH THE SANDWICHES. So I had to eat 2 dry sandwiches. I absolutely HATE this place. Never coming back again. And I’m giving this a bad rating. This is the worst deli I’ve ever been to. 👎❌
