The Living Room Reviews
The Living Room at the Standard Highline pretends to be a welcome / greeting area that is more transitory and temporal in your visit. And yes, you can use it for a quick cup of coffee while you wait for someone to arrive. But surprisingly, they have great beer and food. Obviously, the in-house brewed beer from the Standard Biergarten next door is available, while their Lamb Lollipops were absolutely tasty. Again, this wasn't pretentious but rather genuinely good food served in a lively gateway to the Standard. You sit out on a perfect summer evening, lit beautifully with an array of lightbulbs, in a chic yet not rushed seating, drinking a beer and fingerfood before your dinner. A quick email or two on your laptop. Perhaps reading a book. The Living Room is perfect in so many ways. And punches over its weight with food and drinks. Already stopped by twice during my stay and will return repeatedly. It is such an asset for the Meat Packing District. My only feedback - make sure the service pace can be picked up. It takes a while for someone to know you've seated and come to you for orders. Small nit!
