★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Don’t waste your money here. They play jazzy elevator music and the vibe is very low energy. The hotel doesn’t have room service but the lovely gentleman who checked me in said I could pick up take-out food at the Stayton Room. The bartender threw down two menus and I chose a unique cocktail. She said she couldn’t make the cocktail because it was a happy hour drink. Why did she give me that menu at 9 PM? I then chose a arugula salad (no protein) and a manhattan. It added up to over $60! Really? The bartender talked down to me when I asked a couple questions. She was automatically tipped 18% for her unfriendly service. I went from happy from my fabulous NYC weekend to glum and annoyed. The under poured cocktail pictured cost me over $30.
August 25 · Pamela AVery pleasant stay at the bar. We visited a couple of times and the staff is exceptional! They do know what they are doing and do it so effortlessly! Thanks Brandi and the lady that tried to help me with my bouquet of flowers in the beginning! I could not get a glimpse of name tag!
August 18 · Ekaterina SI recently visited the Stayton Room, and while it boasts a stylish Art Deco ambiance, my overall experience was disappointing. Here are a few key issues:Misleading Happy Hour: The website still advertises a happy hour that doesn't exist. This lack of transparency is frustrating for customers looking for deals.Overpriced Cocktails: While it's no surprise that cocktails in NYC can be pricey, starting at $25, the quality didn't match the price. Specifically, serving a "rocks glass" style cocktail like an Old Fashion without a large ice cube and using a cheap supermarket cherry felt subpar.Hidden Service Fee: The most concerning issue was the automatic 18% service fee, which was not clearly communicated to us. What's even more problematic is that the staff folded and stapled the receipt to conceal this charge. This practice is not only deceptive but also unprofessional. It's understandable to include a service fee, especially for tourist areas, but it should be clearly disclosed by the server. If you plan to visit, be aware that the service fee is included in your bill. To improve, the Stayton Room should ensure transparency about this fee and train staff to communicate it clearly to customers. Hiding it in the receipt is not acceptable and detracts from the overall experience.
April 03 · gaspipe1This place is such a vibe. Maybe it was just the night I stopped in for a drink but the bar was full with a rather engaging crowd and stocked with enthusiastic bartenders. Loved the jazz and the general ambiance of the place. Doesn't hurt the cocktail was good too - a French 75 with cognac, which I hadn't expected to like as much as I did. Classic NYC hotel bar prices though, so keep that in mind.
October 24 · SlexThis place is a joke. Was staying at the hotel and wanted a quick bite to eat. On their menu they claim that their Margherita Pizza is “House-Made Pizza with Fresh Mozzarella, Garlic & Margherita Basil Sauce”. Ordered that and the waitress tells me that the pizza “hasn’t come yet so it may be a bit of a wait”. I was confused by the statement until I got the food. They get the pizza from another store called “Uncle Paul’s Pizza”. If you go on Uncle Paul’s Pizza, their 12” is sold for $14 dollars. Guess how much this place charges? DOUBLE at $24. What a bait and switch. I will be making a formal consumer complaint.
