## What is Worth Choosing
Toku Modern Asian provides a comprehensive menu for the New Yorker who enjoys Asian cuisine in a sophisticated environment. While some customers found the prices steep compared to the perceived value of the food, the experience remains highly sought-after. If you choose to visit, here’s what to prioritize to make the most of your time and investment:
The Sushi and Raw Bar Appetizers are a primary strength. Focus on the creative and delicate raw preparations. Consider the Yellowtail ($23.00), Spicy Tuna ($22.00), or the more premium Chutoro Carpaccio ($33.00). The unique small plates like Crispy Rice ($23.00) and the luxurious Lobster Taco ($29.00) are signature dishes that align with the trendy, modern Asian concept the restaurant is built upon.
For a high-impact, substantial main course, look to their specialty seafood. The Miso Black Cod ($36.00) and Chilean Sea Bass ($39.00) are classic choices in upscale Asian dining and represent the premium end of their culinary offerings. Alternatively, the unique Grilled Skewers section allows you to sample exotic proteins and combinations, such as the Duck And Lychee ($13.00) or Foie Gras And Pineapple ($18.00) skewers.
The Atmosphere and Bar Service are arguably the biggest draws. If you are going on a busy night, anticipate a high noise level, but capitalize on the excellent cocktail and wine lists. Many guests find the setting ideal for a social gathering or celebration. The attentiveness of the wait staff is a consistent positive, which significantly enhances the service component of the dining experience.
Given its location, Toku is best chosen for the full upscale experience—the intersection of fashion, cocktails, and Pan-Asian flavors—making it a destination for those who prioritize ambiance and a vibrant social scene as much as the food itself.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1My family and I came here for lunch, drawn in by the lively atmosphere and the abundance of outdoor seating. The service was attentive and polished, consistent with what you’d expect from a fine dining establishment.Unfortunately, the experience didn’t quite live up to the setting. We were seated toward the back of the restaurant and dealt with an ongoing issue of fruit flies and other insects, which made the meal less enjoyable. As for the food, it was underwhelming given the premium price point. I ordered the Wagyu steak (medium), which was precut and served with neatly stacked fries. Presentation aside, it was one of the most mediocre steaks I’ve had—when I can prepare a better one at home, that’s not a good sign. The sushi rolls were average, the crispy rice was just okay, and the tuna pizza, while tasty, lacked that “wow” factor. The lunch prix fixe menu was serviceable but forgettable; the Pad Thai noodles, in particular, were disappointing, especially considering I’ve had far better versions at a fraction of the cost in Flushing.Overall, while the service and ambiance were positives, the food quality and value simply weren’t there. For the price, I expected a much more memorable experience. Sadly, I won’t be returning.
September 20 · David NgRecently had dinner at Toku with a party of nine, and I have to say—this place did not live up to the hype. Multiple people in our group, especially locals, swore this spot was amazing, maybe because it’s nestled among the high-end shops at Americana Manhasset. But let’s be real: name-dropping luxury retail doesn’t make the food any better. The pricing here is off the charts for what you get—subpar dishes that wouldn’t stand out at a much more modestly priced restaurant. For the money spent, we expected something truly special, not just expensive plating. To make things worse, the noise level on a packed Saturday night made it nearly impossible to hold a conversation without yelling across the table. The only saving grace? The service. Our server was attentive and professional, but unfortunately, great service couldn’t rescue a disappointing dining experience. All flash, no flavor.
June 29 · Jon P.Went for a late night dinner with another couple on a Saturday, and I couldn’t belie how packed out the place was at 10pm. It def has more of a lounge vibe after hours. I’ve been here years ago for normal dinner time and it was much calmer. The food was delicious as usual. Everything was amazing despite the kitchen being close to closing time. Everything was fresh and delivered on taste.Service from our waiter was fine but not as attentive due to the place being so busy. Overall, would return because the place is beautiful and the food is great! I highly recommend.
April 15 · Nissa Milfortamazing experience, i ordered the tuna pizza, and the crispy rice for appetizers. i also got the geisha which was salmon, avocado wrapped in cucumber. absolutely delicious. the wagyu steak frites was delicious, the cocktails were yummy too!
September 19 · Kiera KearneyToku is the perfect blend of upscale elegance and vibrant atmosphere. The Asian fusion menu is creative and has a wide variety of flavors that cater to every palate. Plus, the cocktail menu is just as impressive. The staff are knowledgeable about the menu and quick to accommodate any special requests or preferences. Lastly, the ambience at Toku is sleek and stylish.
