Uptown Bar Introduce
The establishment known as Uptown Bar is a commercial venue whose location, near the Van Wyck Expy in Rosedale, NY 11422, strongly suggests it functions as a critical, albeit transient, part of the John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) landscape. While a street address points to a general area, the nature of the business and the specific feedback from customers confirm its role as a necessary stop for travelers who have already passed through security checks and have limited dining options.
As a bar, its primary focus is the sale and service of Alcohol, catering to airport patrons looking for a beverage, whether to relax before a flight or to simply pass the time. This focus on liquid refreshment is typical of bars in high-traffic transit areas where the need for a quick, available drink often outweighs the expectation of a full, leisurely dining experience.
However, the user-generated content for Uptown Bar is overwhelmingly negative, painting a picture of an extremely high-cost, low-value stop. Reviewers allege that the lack of displayed prices leads to customers feeling "robbed," citing examples of heavily inflated prices for minimal, low-quality food items, such as a basic cheeseburger for $30 or a small sandwich for $20. For New Yorkers accustomed to value, this represents a significant deviation from typical city pricing standards. This information is crucial for any prospective customer located in the New York region, as it provides a strong caution against planning a meal here.
Uptown Bar is technically located near Van Wyck Expy, Rosedale, NY 11422, USA. Crucially, the Van Wyck Expressway is the main artery leading directly into John F. Kennedy International Airport. This proximity, combined with customer reviews indicating its post-security location, confirms that the Uptown Bar is designed to serve travelers at the airport who are past the point of no return for alternative dining outside of the secure area.
Accessibility to the bar is therefore defined by airport logistics rather than typical neighborhood access. It is accessible only to ticketed passengers within the secure area of the terminal, likely in Terminal 4, which is known for hosting various 'Uptown' branded eateries, such as Uptown Brasserie. Its main clientele includes domestic and international travelers with layovers or wait times. For the purposes of a local New Yorker, access is only relevant if they are personally flying out of JFK or meeting someone who is.
As an airport amenity, the bar adheres to all federal and airport-specific guidelines, including security and operational standards. While accessibility features like a Restroom are confirmed, the overall experience is dominated by the unique and often restrictive conditions of post-security transit hubs.
The services at Uptown Bar are strictly limited to the core requirements of a post-security airport bar, prioritizing the immediate needs of waiting travelers.
- Alcohol Service: The primary offering is the sale of Alcohol, including likely selections of beer, wine, and spirits, aimed at patrons wishing to enjoy a drink before their flight.
- Limited Food Offering: While primarily a bar, it does offer some food, though customer feedback suggests the selection consists of basic, pre-packaged, or quickly assembled items like sandwiches, chips, and burgers. This is available for immediate consumption on-site.
- Restroom Availability: A basic amenity confirmed to be available for customer use.
- On-Site Consumption: The service is solely focused on dine-in consumption for the duration of a passenger’s wait time within the terminal.
- Transit Stop: Functions as a space for travelers to rest, wait, and purchase refreshments after passing through the security checkpoint.
The "highlights" of the Uptown Bar must be considered entirely within the context of an airport environment, where convenience often overrides quality and cost.
- Post-Security Convenience: Its most valuable feature is its location past the security checkpoint at JFK, making it one of the few immediately available options for food and drink for waiting travelers.
- Availability of Alcohol: It provides essential beverage service for passengers, serving as a spot for a quick pre-flight drink.
- Basic Amenities: The presence of a dedicated Restroom is a necessary convenience for waiting customers.
- Traveler Necessity: It fulfills a critical need for refreshment in a captive environment where other dining choices may be full or non-existent.
Despite these functional features, the user feedback highlights a major deterrent: an alleged pattern of Extreme Price Gouging and Low Food Quality. Examples cited include a $35 hamburger meal described as "sad" and made with low-quality ingredients, and a feeling of being "robbed." This suggests that while it is conveniently located, the value proposition is severely compromised, and customers should approach this location with significantly managed expectations regarding cost and quality.
As a business primarily serving a highly transient, captive audience within a secure facility, direct local contact information for the specific bar counter is often difficult to ascertain and may not be publicly distributed outside of general airport customer service. Patrons should rely on the airport terminal staff for direct assistance.
Address: Van Wyck Expy, Rosedale, NY 11422, USA (Location is within the secure area of JFK Airport, likely Terminal 4).

For a New Yorker traveling through JFK Airport, the Uptown Bar is only Worth Choosing for its Proximity and Necessity. If you are a ticketed passenger already past security, have a long wait, and absolutely require a readily available alcoholic beverage or a simple, immediate food item, the Uptown Bar is a viable option because of its location.
However, travelers must be fully prepared for and accept the significant premiums that come with dining in this captive airport environment. Based on the overwhelming and consistent negative customer reports, this location should be actively avoided by anyone prioritizing quality, value, or courteous service. If other dining options within the terminal are available, they should be chosen first. The Uptown Bar’s only true selling point is being an immediately accessible provider of Alcohol and a Restroom when limited alternatives exist in a post-security context.

So everything in these “bars” have not prices shown and overpriced, lowest possible quality, bad mannered service. Some examples:Bag of chips: 11$Boxed ham and cheese sandwich: 20$Slimy frozen cheeseburger: 30$You deserve jail, not only a rant review!
August 25 · Dario CicconeAvoid this place. We were practically robbed: a small, sad hamburger with a tiny lettuce leaf and a slice of tomato, served with French fries straight from a bag (!) and a bottled Coke — $35!!! Tip not included. An absolute rip-off. I should have realized the trap earlier when I noticed there were no prices displayed. The owner was cold and unfriendly. Definitely to be avoided!
