★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Been coming here for years when I need a vegan soul food fix and the food is always consistent. Today the barbecue drumsticks and jerk chicken were on point! The Mac, Greens, and Mashed potatoes needed a little salt but I prefer it that way, as it lets me season it the way I like. Also had the sweet potato pie. Nice Sunday lunch!!
August 10 · BX ANice 'fast' food but with lots of healthy options and lots of variety. It was fun to have a plate of lots of different things and to pay by weight. Also lots of cakes available (the bread pudding was delicious and perfectly moist / not too sweet)
February 12 · Hanne ArtsI had high hopes. My first visit, the food was ok. I had the mac and cheese, collard green's, buffalo "chicken", rice and beans and curried potato. The collards were really good. Ate that with the mac and cheese since it needed help. The rice and bean's and curried potato were also good, but the texture of the "chicken" I am not used to and the buffalo sauce wasn't quite ...buffalo, but ok nonetheless had the pineapple tart (delicious) and something that resembled an oatmeal cookie. Again, it was ok. It warranted another visit. SMHI don't know if there was a different cook today; I did see different people, in any case, food should be consistent in flavor when you run a restaurant in NYC. The first clue that should have passed was the curried chickpeas didn't look cooked all the way and they were swimming in something, I don't know what. I was told it was curry. After tasting my meal, I would say it's debatable. I opted for the "seasoned" chickpeas. They were too firm to enjoy. The fork shouldn't have any resistance when skewering a chickpea. I had to apply firm pressure to get it to pierce. The curried potatoes had a hint of curry and the salt was missing. It just tasted like soft bland potatoes colored with curry. The collard green's tasted as though they forgot the vinegar and could use a bit more salt; barely any flavor. The worst was the mac and cheese. There wasn't even an attempt to make it taste like cheese. It was more a macaroni salad. Totally different flavors. I got the barbecue "chicken" this time, but didn't bother trying it. I am too pissed after spending $35 on this meal alone. To add injury, I purchased the pineapple tart, additionally, only find mold on the bottom and of course I am too far away that I can't turn around and bring it to their attention in person 😤 Nearly $40!The only thing that tasted ok was the pastry that spinach and mustard in it, which by the way, the people fulfilling your orders do not know what they are serving. On both occasions I asked about wheat being on the food and what some of the pastries were called and they had to ask someone in the back. FYI, when I say the salt was missing, I am not one that eats alot of salt. Most foods in restaurants taste salty to me. I have to spice this meal up, as they say, and cook it some more to something that doesn't make me mad. Though isn't the point of take-out so you don't have to...I won't risk spending nearly $40 on ok food that may or may taste good depending on the day of the week.
February 19 · ChristineIve been here twice and had high hopes. The food is hit or miss because sometimes the food is good and sometimes its mediocre. The worst part for me was trying their apple pie and finding out they don't peal the skin off their apples before it's baked. I mentioned it and was told that they normally leave the skin on them. Worst apple pie I ever ate.
September 09 · Anisha (Najah)Amazing hot Buffet vegan comfort soul food! Super tasty and spice was on point (quite often the season of vegan food could get over spicy). As the food goes by weight, be a prescriptive with the amount of food you want to try. Staff is friendly and there are so many sweet and smoothie options. Definitely will get back as the “chicken” jerk and drumstick were so good. There is a park close by that is a great option to eat besides space inside the store. I got a carrot cake and a juice to go and check was about $21.
