Vienna Cookie Company Introduce
The New York region is a hub of diverse culinary experiences, and for those seeking an authentic taste of European pastry artistry, the Vienna Cookie Company stands out as a unique Long Island destination. Located right in Baldwin, this establishment is more than just a local bakery; it is a dedicated cookie shop and gift destination that brings the rich, sophisticated flavors of Austrian baking to the heart of Nassau County. It offers a delightful escape into the world of Viennese sweets, crafted with passion, natural ingredients, and a commitment to family tradition.
Founded by Austrian-born baker Heidi Riegler, the Vienna Cookie Company is an expression of deep family culinary heritage. Heidi, a self-taught baker, learned her skills and collected her recipes from her mother and grandmother, ensuring that every bite carries the authentic essence of a traditional Austrian kitchen. In a time when many foods are mass-produced, this company emphasizes freshly made, handcrafted products, proudly stating that their cookies are free from artificial colors, flavors, preservatives, and GMO ingredients. This commitment to quality and authenticity is a major draw for discerning customers across New York.
The core of the company’s offering lies in its exquisite selection of classic Viennese cookies and pastries. At the heart of their repertoire is the famed Linzer Cookie, the diminutive and elegant cousin to the larger Linzer Torte. These spiced almond butter cookies are traditionally sandwiched with homemade raspberry jam, creating a beautiful contrast of buttery crust and tart filling, dusted with confectioner's sugar. However, the variety extends far beyond this classic, encompassing a whole range of delightful European sweets that are perfect for any occasion, whether it’s a quick personal treat or an elaborate holiday gift.
Beyond the everyday offerings, Vienna Cookie Company is also a fantastic source for gourmet gifts. Their beautifully packaged assorted cookie boxes, featuring a curated mix of their specialties, are a popular choice for birthdays, holidays, and corporate thank-yous. The company also offers seasonal and holiday-themed products, making it a go-to spot for New Yorkers looking to add a touch of authentic European class to their celebrations, including special boxes for Christmas and Halloween, and baking classes for those who wish to learn the craft themselves.
Reviews from local patrons often highlight not only the quality of the baked goods but also the personal touch in service. One customer described the experience as "like getting in touch with family you haven't seen in a while," praising the "carefully crafted, expertly produced" cookies and the generous portions. While, as with any food establishment, there can be varying opinions—one review noted disappointment with the Linzer cookies’ taste and filling—the majority of feedback points to a high level of satisfaction with the authentic, buttery, and flaky texture characteristic of proper Viennese sweets, underscoring the company’s overall dedication to maintaining a family-feel business while catering to a broader market, including sales through major retailers like Williams-Sonoma.
The company’s packaging design itself is a feature, reflecting Austria's rich cultural heritage. Inspired by Vienna's Wiener Werkstätte movement of the Fin-de-siècle, the stylish white and silver boxes feature rich patterns, a Nouveau type style, and metallic color choices, ensuring that the presentation is as sophisticated as the contents, making them instantly ready for gifting. This attention to detail elevates the product from a simple dessert to a full European culinary experience.
For Long Island residents and New York area visitors, the Vienna Cookie Company offers a charming and worthwhile culinary detour. It’s a perfect example of a local business enriching the community with high-quality, specialty international foods, delivered with a personal and friendly touch. It’s an ideal spot to pick up an exceptional dessert, a holiday treat, or a thoughtful, gourmet gift.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1These cookies are EXCELLENT, and the service is even better. Ordering from the Vienna Cookie Company is like getting in touch with family you haven't seen in a while (which I guess a lot of us can relate to in the Covid Era!). Carefully crafted, expertly produced. Not to mention, the boxes of cookies are filled to capacity. Very impressive, super delicious. Thanks, Heidi!
March 06 · Maggie TittlerThe good: ordering was easy. The bad: I just received my order of “linzer torte” cookies and they are disappointing and tasteless. They are definitely not made from scratch or are authenticate. The filling is almost nonexistent. These cookies taste worse than store bought cookies. I have had better Pepperidge Farm cookies than Vienna’s cookies. I will never order from this company again. It was a waste of money.
September 22 · Vanessa JamisonPurchased a blueberry crumble tart from the Hamptons market/street fair with cash (in case they try to say there was no record of my purchase). This is one of my favorite desserts but it didn't live up to my expectations. Overall it was pretty bland. The dough mixture needs some work, it was more on the raw side and barely had any taste. Both the dough and the blueberry mixture needed more flavor incorporated. Presentation wise 10 out of 10 but I wouldn't purchase again.
August 20 · KristinaWe ordered cookie boxes for our client gifts this year and had an absolutely wonderful experience working with Heidi! She went above and beyond to meet all of our needs, making the entire client gifting process seamless and stress-free. We couldn’t be more thrilled with her exceptional service!
December 13 · Madeline AustinWe ordered the Vienna Cookie Company's advent calendar and are really disappointed by it. The cookies are tiny, smaller than the size of a bite. They are cute and some of them taste good, but many are nothing special. I suppose this would be OK if the advent calendar didn't cost $58. For that amount of money, surely they could do better. I messaged them to tell them how disappointed we are, and they didn't even bother to respond. You can do much better for advent calendars, such as the Bonne Mamman calendar, which costs less ($45) and offers far more.
