★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1One of the most fantastic Japanese experiences I’ve had in NY. The depth of flavor, the quality of the ingredients, and the execution of the tasting menu was impeccable. Still thinking about the uni toast and seaweed donut! Excellent and authentic drink options as well (alcoholic and non alcoholic). Extremely balanced flavors and attentive service from the staff. Can’t wait to go back - a must if you’re in New York!
September 14 · Isabella AlvaresHad an amazing experience at Yoshoku in the newly renovated Waldorf Astoria! The food was exceptional, with a la carte items as well as a tasting menu. A friend and I shared some a la carte items, such as a tomato salad with shiso vinaigrette and an adorable egg salad sando. The sushi and maki rolls were also very fresh and expertly made, and make sure to save room for dessert as all the sweets were perfectly balanced in flavor. The space is so beautiful, with the intricate crown moldings and al frescos above us, and service was perfectly attentive without feeling obtrusive. Definitely recommend!
September 18 · Abigail RubinOur meal was easily the worst sushi we have ever had. It is also amount the most expensive sushi we have ever had. The combination was a disaster. We were excited to visit the newly renovated Waldorf+Astoria. The hotel lobby is impressive albeit a bit sterile. The sushi restaurant is located near the Park Avenue entrance. It is more of a lobby lounge than a traditional Japanese restaurant. The service was friendly but SLOW! The lounge was essentially empty (there were two other parties) but it took forever for our server to engage with us. And then it took forever in between visits to our table. In fact, it took 19 minutes for our cocktails to arrive. The service never got better. The sushi is expensive. The quality of the fish was not commensurate with being a high-end sushi restaurant. The tuna (medium fatty) was chewy and full of connective fiber. The salmon was better but we have had more flavorful sushi from our local grocery store. The rice had no flavor and added nothing to the individual pieces. In a town with many outstanding sushi restaurants there is little hope that this restaurant will stay in business.
August 18 · Paul JohnsonDinner we had the choose the 13-course. The food wasn't that good, not one dish wowed me, every dish was mediocre. They did not have the first two bottles of sake that we ordered. Our waiter was combative, not friendly, he seemed like he had an attitude the entire time. We had a horrible time here, I would not recommend this restaurant.
August 16 · Nadia PYoshoku at the Waldorf Astoria is such a beautiful spot with super friendly team—our server Kathalina was wonderful and really knowledgeable. We loved the toro taki maki (so fresh!), the snap pea and watercress salad, and the heirloom tomato dish with figs and melon. The egg mimosa sando, halibut meuniere, and quail katsu were also all delicious. Desserts were stunning and tasty too. Highly recommend for a nice dinner in a gorgeous, historic setting—I can’t wait to go back and try more of their sushi!
