All'Antico Vinaio Introduce
In a city where sandwich shops are as ubiquitous as yellow cabs, All'Antico Vinaio has managed to create a sensation. Originating from Florence, Italy, this globally celebrated sandwich shop has brought its authentic, oversized, and ridiculously delicious creations to the heart of New York City. Located in Midtown East, All'Antico Vinaio is more than just a place to grab a bite; it's a culinary experience that transports you directly to the streets of Tuscany. For a city that prides itself on its delis and sandwich artistry, All'Antico Vinaio offers a unique and highly sought-after product that has quickly won over the hearts and stomachs of locals and tourists alike.
The secret to All'Antico Vinaio's success lies in its simplicity and unwavering commitment to fresh, high-quality ingredients. The star of every sandwich is the bread, a fresh-cut, crispy yet soft Tuscan schiacciata. This bread is the perfect canvas for the generous fillings, from classic Italian cold cuts like prosciutto and mortadella to unique additions like truffle creams and spicy eggplant spreads. The sandwiches are known for being massive, often large enough to be shared or saved for leftovers, which makes their price feel even more reasonable for the immense size and quality. The process of watching the "Italian guys" expertly create your sandwich is part of the fun, a testament to the fast service and dedication to their craft.
The menu features a selection of "Icons"—signature sandwiches that have gained a cult following. The "La Favolosa" with its combination of Salame Toscana, Pecorino cream, artichoke cream, and spicy eggplant, and the "La Paradiso" with mortadella, stracciatella, pistachio cream, and pistachio are just a couple of examples of the unique flavor profiles you can expect. They also offer a menu of salads and even a small selection of breakfast sandwiches for the early crowd. For those with a sweet tooth or in need of a pick-me-up, the shop also serves traditional Italian coffees and even has a small selection of alcoholic beverages and wine, making it a versatile spot for any time of day.
The atmosphere inside All'Antico Vinaio is casual and cozy, despite the constant buzz of a crowd waiting for their turn. It's a trendy spot, perfect for a quick lunch on the go or for a solo dining experience at one of the available seats. The popularity and the frequent long lines are a testament to the quality and reputation of the food. Despite some minor complaints about inconsistent ingredient temperatures in a few reviews, the overwhelming sentiment is one of delight and satisfaction, with customers dreaming about their sandwiches long after they've finished. All'Antico Vinaio has not just opened a shop in New York; it has successfully established itself as a must-visit destination for anyone who appreciates a truly great sandwich.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1My sandwich was so BIG and delicious and fresh. Wow it’s so fun to watch them create the deliciousness. They even cut the bread fresh. I barely could eat half so I have left overs. The Italian guys are cool ;). They are quick and it’s clean inside. Seating inside or outside. Reasonable price. Good location. I’ll be back.
August 11 · Deborah LynneOne of the best sandwiches I've had in the city! I loved the crispiness of the bread and the freshness of the ingredients. My only complaint is that some of the chopped zucchini we had came out of the fridge and was ice cold, which really negatively impacted the rest of the sandwich. I tried the other sandwiches my family ordered and they were all incredibly good.
August 24 · Saahil PanikarWow, what an incredible sandwich shot. Came here on the way back to my apartment from a nice walk in Central Park and saw a line out the door so stopped and thought it must be great. Got la Regina, which I highly recommend. Definitely one of my favorite Italian delis in the city. Can’t go wrong for a nice lunch in Midtown would highly recommend.
August 04 · Adam SpiegelFirst of all, I’m glad this was the location we used to finally try their sandwiches: unlike some other places this one has lots of seating and nice atmosphere.Second of all, sandwiches are pretty much enough to split between 2 people. We ordered two without knowing that but they were sooo delicious we ate both up. La Dante - perfectly oiled, with generous portion of copacollo and arugula; La Broadway - with creamy and rich straciatella and flavorful dried tomatoes. These have definetely made it to the very top of my personal best sandwich list. Will definetely be coming back to try more
June 28 · Olga EgorovaMy sandwich ingredients were good but the bread was harder than I expected, cutting into the roof of my mouth. However, so flavorful that it was quickly forgotten. I got the Venice beach, kinda wish there was mayo or like a pesto spread bc it felt dry. All the sandwiches look beautiful. The place is cute and clean. The staff is hard at work so know what you want when you get to the front.
