Anthony's Paninoteca Introduce
**Anthony's Paninoteca**, a true culinary gem nestled in Staten Island, has quickly become a must-visit destination for New Yorkers seeking an elevated, authentic Italian sandwich experience. This is not your average deli; patrons consistently describe the offerings not just as sandwiches, but as **gourmet meals**. The shop prides itself on using only the **finest ingredients**, with everything made fresh daily, reflecting a deep commitment to quality that resonates with the demanding palate of NYC residents.
The shop’s reputation is built on its mastery of Italian flavors and techniques, particularly the use of **schiacciata bread**. This traditional Tuscan flatbread, similar to focaccia but often crispier and denser, provides the perfect, authentic base for their creations. Customers who have tried schiacciate in Florence, Italy, rave that Anthony’s versions "go toe to toe, if not better than the 'famous panini' shops in Firenze," declaring them to be among the **best sandwiches on the East Coast of the U.S.**
The menu is an impressive lineup of both hot and cold heroes, paninis, and schiacciate, often featuring witty, local-inspired names. Highlights include the acclaimed **PANINO MORTADELLA ($24.00)** with burrata and pistachio pesto, and the hot specialty **#25 DO IT FOR JOHNNY ($21.50)**, loaded with roast beef, fresh mozzarella, and a rich gravy. This commitment to quality and distinct, flavorful combinations ensures that the higher price point is always justified, offering exceptional value for a truly gourmet product. As one patron stated, "You 1000% get what you pay for."
Beyond the extensive menu, Anthony's Paninoteca offers compelling **daily specials** that draw a consistent local crowd. These rotate offerings, such as **Pork Cutlet Milanese Hero** on Mondays, **Pastrami on Rye** on Deli Day, and the highly anticipated **Crispy Porchetta** on Thursdays, showcase the depth of their culinary skill, which includes curing and smoking meats in-house. The establishment also caters to different dietary preferences, offering options like the **PANINO CAPRESE ($19.00)** for a vegetarian choice, and various salads and smaller plates.
The atmosphere inside the shop is described as **casual and cozy**, providing a welcoming environment to enjoy a quick bite or a satisfying meal. The service model focuses on **counter service** and **fast service**, acknowledging the New York need for efficiency. This dedication to excellence in both product and service is why many locals consider Anthony’s Paninoteca an instant classic.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Got the sandwich for doordash cuz I'm all the way up in the North shore... so I can't really judge the atmosphere and the service but I'm thinking they deserve a five-star for it anyway.I'm a big guy I'm a fat boy and I got to tell you this was one of the best sandwiches I ever had in my life I live in the North shore and it's difficult for me to come down there but dude I finally splurged on the PANINO MORTADELLAThese are not sandwiches these are gourmet meals! Thank you for such an amazing meal my friends and especially to you Antonio!it's a good thing you're not too close to me or I'd be like 600 pounds lmao!!Best of luck in the future, like you need it lol!
October 12 · NikoI have had so many schiacciate all over Firenze. His schiacciate go toe to toe, if not better than the “famous panini” shops in Firenze. This man has by far the best sandwiches on the island and maybe the east coast of the U.S. Disregard anyone who complains about pricing. You 1000% get what you pay for. Want a cheap sandwich go to Wawa in Jersey.
July 26 · Toto FinazzGreat sandwiches. High-quality meats and ingredients. Upscale/clean space.
July 08 · Tony D'AntonioSmall shop, with a constant flow of customers. Everything was made to order and looked delicious. I got the eggplant parmigiana platter and it was great, generous and fantastic. I can’t wait to return.
April 06 · Analia GerardI’ve always believed in the magic of the muffuletta—a sandwich so unapologetically indulgent, it’s practically a religion in New Orleans. At Central Grocery, the birthplace of this olive-drenched masterpiece, it’s almost sacred. So imagine my surprise, here on Staten Island—a borough I know has its culinary treasures hidden among the strip malls and suburban sprawls—to find a muffuletta that challenges the original.Anthony’s Paninoteca isn’t trying to be fancy. It’s not chasing trends or Instagram glory. It’s a small place with big smells—roasted meats, fresh bread, and that unmistakable tang of vinegar-soaked olives. You walk in, and it feels like you’ve stumbled into someone’s nonna’s pantry. The kind of place that knows exactly what it’s about and makes no apologies. Then, the muffuletta arrives. It’s hefty, as it should be. The bread—house-made, golden, with just the right crust-to-chew ratio—isn’t trying to steal the show but knows its role as the backbone of the whole operation. The olive salad…oh man, the olive salad. It’s briny, garlicky, with just enough acidity to cut through the richness of the meats. Speaking of which: the mortadella, salami, ham, and provolone are layered like a symphony. This isn’t a chaotic pile of deli scraps—it’s precision, balance, an ode to everything a muffuletta should be.And here’s the kicker: this muffuletta isn’t a copycat. It’s not a pale imitation of Central Grocery’s legendary creation. It’s its own thing—familiar yet distinct, like a great jazz cover of a classic tune. It respects tradition but knows how to riff.Anthony’s Paninoteca has pulled off something I didn’t think was possible: a muffuletta that holds its own outside of Louisiana. It’s a reason to take the ferry, to make the drive, to rediscover Staten Island’s culinary underbelly. Because if you’re chasing flavor, authenticity, and just a bit of audacity, this little shop is where you need to be.Would I come back? Hell yes. And I’d bring a bottle of wine to share with Anthony. Sandwiches like this deserve a toast.
