★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I was on a long walk around Central Park and I passed by the Boathouse Cafe on my way back to CPSouth. I did not stop to eat as I already ate. The setting is great. Some tables in front area, some inside and some facing the pond. Looks like a great place to eat and enjoy the view.
August 29 · THE EXPLORERThe Central Park Boathouse Café is inside the New York Central Park. This café is located right behind a higher class Boathouse restaurant. First-time visitors to the park may have questions about the two eateries. To grab a quick bite, the Café is a better choice. There's something to eat for all at better prices. I avoided the crowded seating area in front of the service counter, grabbed my breakfast, walked about 200 feet, and enjoyed a more serene and private meal under trees sitting on a log style bench. Later, after walking around for three hours in the park, before heading back to my hotel, I decided to repeat my morning breakfast experience with a quick lunch [Greek salad, fries and grilled cheese sandwich]Both of my breakfast and lunch under the trees sitting on a log bench was exhilarating because small birds approached me and grabbed some crumbs directly from my fingertips.Food quality was great, the service was smooth, but they lost one star because of the very dirty toilets. But even that is forgiven - given their busy location.
July 28 · Berge WassilianYou're paying for the Iconic view and not so much for the service and food. This cafe has so much potential but I suppose my expectations were too high.
September 17 · Chelsea ChoeGreat spot for a quick breakfast or lunch while walking through the park. I had the toasted ham and cheese sandwich with a side of fries but the Dijon was a bit excessive. I did ask if I could get it on the side, but the sandwiches are premade so you get them as they are. It was good after I scraped some of it off.Service was not great, the employee seemed annoyed that she even had to interact with customers. The outside park dining atmosphere was great though!
January 16 · Tonya HornbeckToo much plastic!!!Been coming here for many years, through many changes of ownership and management, recently I found they no longer take cash and all the sandwiches, burgers, and whatnot come in plastic containers instead of cardboard which they used to. There is so much trash in the trash trashcan and it’s not biodegradable. I will no longer be visiting nor recommending the boathouse. Central Park, clean up your act!
