For New Yorkers in the Queens area, Cheung Khei is worth choosing for several compelling reasons that center on value, speed, and satisfying traditional flavors. This is not a place that promises fusion or novelty; it promises, and delivers, classic Chinese takeout excellence.
First and foremost, the consistency and reliability are unmatched for a local Chinese spot. It’s the kind of "go-to order" place where you know exactly what you’re getting, and it "always hits the spot, never disappoints." For busy city life, having a dependable source of comfort food is invaluable. The speed of service is also a key factor; orders are prepared fast, ensuring that a quick lunch break or a sudden dinner craving is met with minimal wait time.
Secondly, the focus on value is a major draw. Cheung Khei is cheap, offers generous portions, and provides an extensive selection of lunch specialties that include main dishes paired with rice and often an egg roll, making a complete meal affordable. This financial accessibility makes it a superior option for daily dining.
Thirdly, specific menu items receive high acclaim. The jumbo shrimps and the ability to customize dishes, such as getting chicken fried rice prepared to an extreme level of spiciness, show a kitchen that is focused on customer satisfaction and executing the basics flawlessly. While some dishes may be considered "uneventful" on their own, the availability of house-made hot sauce and the option to liven up the meal with condiments are part of the authentic, no-frills experience.
Finally, the restaurant's service options—quick takeout, reliable delivery, and late-night availability—solidify its role as a cornerstone of neighborhood dining. If your Chinese food craving is urgent, classic, and requires a simple, cash-paid transaction for maximum efficiency, Cheung Khei on Union Turnpike is the definitive choice for satisfying comfort food in Queens.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1So far one of the best Chinese food around. The jumbo shrimps are 👌👌.. our go to order is large chicken fried rice (very very very spicy), 1 order of jumbo shrimps and 1 order of half fried chicken, extra chili oil... always hits the spot, never disappoints.
March 06 · sana zaheerI'll start by saying I got exactly what I was expecting. I was in the mood for Chinese food and looked around for a takeout place close to work. This is a very classic, divey takeout place where they have essentially any dish ever thought of on their menu in various combinations. That being said, the food was as good as I expected and by that I mean it was meh. Got the moo goo gai pan combo, which came with an egg roll. The egg roll was crispy enough but I felt like the filling was rather lacking in volume. The sauce for the main dish was uneventful. I added their hot sauce and some soy sauce to liven it up, but that couldn't really save it. The chicken itself was super unseasoned. The best part of the dish, surprisingly, was the brown rice. It was a really nice texture. The place is cash only, cheap, and fast. I will probably try some of the other things from here knowing what I'll be getting for the convenience and to satisfy any Chinese food craving.

December 29 · Anthony GFood was good, atmosphere is okay, but mostly for takeout. The service was pleasant BUT they didn't properly seal the aluminum tray with the sesame noodles so it leaked all over the other food containers and the sauce packets -it was disappointing (haste makes waste). Also the BBQ ribs "keep it hot" bag was also not properly closed so the ribs were cold (only a 10 min car ride home (warm weather).I'm sure they care, but it's the little things that help/hurt. I'll go back, but I'll check the containers next time before leaving. It'd be nice if they would do same.
June 09 · Manuel VelezFood was great. Not as oily as other places.
