ChuChok Thai Introduce
For residents and visitors in the New York region seeking a truly authentic and remarkably flavorful Thai culinary experience, look no further than ChuChok Thai in Sleepy Hollow, NY. This local gem has built a reputation not just for serving delicious Thai food, but for creating a dining experience that feels both cozy and authentically street-food inspired. Operating as a small, highly popular establishment, ChuChok Thai provides a consistent, high-quality menu that keeps patrons across Westchester County and beyond coming back for more, often planning their entire day around a fresh order.
The essence of ChuChok Thai’s success lies in its dedication to freshness and authentic flavor profiles. Chef-restaurateur Sirirut Sompongpiput, known to her patrons as Noi, along with her husband, Sean Smith, transitioned from a Midtown location to this Sleepy Hollow spot, bringing their passion for genuine Thai cooking to the Rivertowns. Their menu features staples alongside unique 'Street Food Style' offerings, all prepared in a small kitchen, prioritizing quality over speed and volume. This commitment often means a necessary wait time, but as countless local customers attest, the incredible taste and quality make the anticipation completely worthwhile.
The restaurant’s name itself is drawn from a Thai folktale about Chuchok, a Buddhist monk whose reward for a good deed was a lavish, unforgettable feast—a fitting inspiration for a place where every meal is crafted to be memorable. They’ve managed to create a unique culinary space that resonates deeply with local New Yorkers looking for that special, under-the-radar spot for their comfort food fix.
One of the true highlights of dining at or taking out from ChuChok Thai is the menu's variety and depth. From light, refreshing salads to rich, satisfying curries and noodles, there is something to suit every palate. Favorites mentioned by loyal customers include the large Tom Yum soup—which, by the way, is said to taste even better as leftovers with added veggies the next day—and the delightful green papaya salad. The popular 'dusty roti,' often served with a perfect combination of peanuts and condensed milk, is described as perfectly soft, warm, and packed with flavor, making it a must-try dessert.
While the demand for this high-quality cuisine can lead to long waits, the restaurant has streamlined its ordering process to manage volume while maintaining freshness. Customers frequently recommend emailing orders ahead of time, often before the 3 PM cutoff, especially for large orders or for guaranteed pickup slots between 4:15 PM and 8:30 PM. For those who can't plan that far ahead, they also accept call-in orders during operating hours.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Keep in mind, this place is takeout only, but it’s absolutely worth it. While living in Westchester County, I would plan entire days around ordering $80 or more worth of food, including appetizers, soups, salads, main entrees, and dessert from here. Everything tasted incredible. I usually emailed my order ahead of time, and once they opened, they would confirm it and have it ready right on time. Some of my favorites are the large Tom Yum soup (leftovers taste even better with added veggies the next day), the shrimp rolls, the green papaya salad which is absolutely to die for 🤤, and the dusty roti, which is perfectly soft, warm, and packed with flavor (peanuts and condensed milk?? chefs kiss). And that’s just what I can remember for now. This is the kind of place I would gladly cross the Tappan Zee Bridge for every time I visit New York. I promise, you won’t find a better spot to eat.1,000,000 out of 10.
August 06 · Rawan AlshehariTheir spicy beef salad is phenomenal and addictive. The wait can be long but it's totally worth it. Email ahead of time.Just wish they also made Tom Kha.
August 19 · Peter KennedyNew and a little uncertain, but all around excellent! Friendly, helpful service and absolutely fantastic food. An blast of spice choices on the table. Decor that's clearly Thai and good fun. Look at the menu and just do it, whether it's to eat there or take away. Yum!
February 24 · Tim RaymundChuchok is a character in one of Buddha reincarnation stories. He was a mean old man who ate too much that his stomach exploded. It’s refreshing to hear such a creative and cultural name for a Thai restaurant in the USA. It also means that there must be at least one Thai in the establishing team. And that means we are going to have some real Thai food. (More or less 🤞)We went there around 1PM on Wednesday, it was kind of calm. (It has been open recently maybe not many people know yet.)Our lunch :Papaya salad : I asked them to add 2 chillis up in the salad to get as close as we eat in Thailand possible and I got it. (Not recommended for Non-Thai) There was an ingredients they cut off which was dried shrimp. It’s understandable since it could be too stinky for one who does not like its smell.Chicken Satay : the cooking and the texture was perfect soft and juicy. For the marinade, I think they could mild it down a little bit, just a little or give more cucumber prickle to help washing or softening the spice heat in the mouth.Phad See-iw (sautéed flat rice noodle with black soya sauce, chicken, vegetable) in the special lunch set : We heard the sound of Wok playing with strong fire, we knew it was going to be good. And it was cooked to perfection. With 8 clients maximum sitting capacity, you may be recommended to call them to make a reservation for the dinner. As it is a small restaurant with a small kitchen with —I guess—not more than 2 cooks, you will have to be patient.Be prepared, be cool and smile like Thais. And try not to eat too much as Chuchok did.
May 23 · Aticha GabulonNice little eatery:There is limited sitting area inside (8 people) and a table outside. The house where the restaurant is pretty. The menu is simple but quite thorough. The Phad Se Yew Gai (Large sauted flat noodles in a dark sauce with chicken) is really tasty with fresh ingredients and the rea taste of the work. The sticky rice with mango and coconut sweet milk is good too.You can also order food to go if you want so.
