As the day turns to evening, the space transforms into a cozy and intimate tapas and cocktail bar, offering a different kind of respite from the urban hustle. This dual identity is a testament to the creativity and vision of the owner, who, as one satisfied customer noted, has a charming and personal touch that makes every visit feel special. The ambiance is a perfect blend of slick, modern design and engaging, personal warmth. Local art adorns the walls in the form of stunning hand-painted murals, creating a relaxed vibe that encourages you to linger. Whether you’re looking for a peaceful spot to start your morning, a comfortable place to work, or a new destination for a sophisticated evening out, Demitasse Coffee provides a unique and welcoming environment that truly feels like a great find.
The culinary and beverage offerings at Demitasse Coffee are as unique and varied as its atmosphere. The day starts with a strong focus on coffee and fresh-baked pastries, including delicious croissants that are served hot from the oven. The coffee menu is extensive, featuring all the classics like lattes, cappuccinos, and cold brew, all made with quality beans. But the creativity extends well beyond the basics, with inventive drink options that showcase the owner’s personal touch. Beyond coffee, the kitchen at Demitasse offers a full-service breakfast, brunch, and lunch menu that goes far beyond what you might expect from a typical cafe. Patrons can enjoy substantial and authentic dishes such as a hot sandwich on Caribbean bread or a hearty Colombian Breakfast with traditional arepas. Other options include breakfast burritos, avocado toast, and a variety of burgers and sandwiches, proving that this is a place where you can get a complete and satisfying meal. In the evening, the focus shifts to small plates and inventive cocktails. The tapas menu offers a variety of fresh and authentic dishes, perfect for sharing. The drinks are a standout, priced competitively and crafted with a personal touch that makes them feel both unique and expertly made. This transition from a daytime coffee spot to a nighttime bar is seamless, and it is this versatility that truly makes Demitasse a unique and valuable addition to the neighborhood's dining scene.
For New Yorkers who appreciate a place that offers both morning coffee and evening drinks in one beautifully designed space, Demitasse Coffee is a revelation. The accessibility of the space is another major highlight, with a wheelchair accessible entrance, restroom, and seating, ensuring that everyone can feel welcome and comfortable. The fact that this is a small, Latino-owned business gives it a special character and a sense of genuine authenticity that larger chains simply can't replicate. The welcoming presence of the owner and the friendly staff contribute to the overall inviting vibe, making you feel more like a guest than a customer. It’s a place that is not just selling coffee or cocktails, but a curated experience that is both engaging and relaxing, a true oasis in a busy part of the city. The connection to a beloved sister location, La Fonda, also speaks volumes about the quality and authenticity of the food and service you can expect here.

February 18 · Jakub BielikowskiWhat a great new spot! Everything we had was fresh, authentic & made to perfection!!! (Turns out it is the sister location to another one of our favorites, La Fonda, small world!) The place itself was conveniently located, offering plenty of natural light that adds to the relaxed vibes. Stunning murals covering the walls. Beautiful hand painted larger than life florals, done by local artists. Such a great find! Will definitely be returning!
