What is Worth Choosing
For a first-time visitor to DOC Wine Bar, what is most worth choosing is the restaurant’s signature Sardinian fare. The Malloreddus (Sardinian gnocchetti), often tossed with a rich ragu and cream of Parmigiano, provides an authentic and deeply satisfying experience of the island's unique cuisine. Similarly, the Fregola al Pistacchio offers a distinctive, flavorful twist on pasta that patrons rave about.
To start your meal, the PANE CARASAU, the traditional Sardinian flatbread, is a must-try. Served off the grill with olive oil and sea salt, it's a simple, fragrant, and highly addictive specialty that perfectly embodies the rustic charm of the restaurant. Another essential choice, repeatedly praised by customers, is the POLPETTE (meatballs). The richness of the meatballs and the depth of the tomato sauce are so good that a customer noted the sauce "you must scrape up with bread."
Finally, to complement any dish, the selection from the Great wine list is non-negotiable. Ask your server for a pairing recommendation, perhaps a Sardinian Vermentino or Cannonau, to complete the authentic island experience. DOC Wine Bar offers an entire package: a unique regional menu, a charming and romantic atmosphere, and top-tier hospitality that makes it a highly worthwhile dining choice in the competitive New York City market.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1This is true authentic Italian - Sardinia to be exact. Walk inside to be transported. Atmosphere is amazing, the service was supreme, and the food?!? The best Caesars Salad I ever had in my life. The meatballs so delicious with sauce you must scrape up with bread. Bread bright in a brown paper bag to stay fresh. The pasta itself was perfection. Every detail handled to perfection. DOC you're my new favorite Italian restaurant outside of Italy. Buon appetito!
April 27 · Juan GutierrezPistachio pesto pasta was pretty good, service overall was slow…but halfway through our meal, we saw multiple large cockroaches inside. We politely and discreetly told the waiter, and he proceeded to tell us multiple stories about cockroaches at the restaurant. He played it off like they’re just an average bug and was joking around. I get it’s NYC and a humid summer, but seeing multiple cockroaches inside during dinner and the staff having 0 concern is not sitting right with me
June 29 · EThis has been my favorite restaurant in NYC, and I’ve been coming here a few times a year since 2012. I’ve always loved the atmosphere, the food, and most of all, the heavenly tiramisu. However, over the past two years, I’ve noticed some subtle but concerning changes. Today, July 18, 2025, was likely my last visit. After 13 years filled with great memories here, the quality of the food has completely deteriorated. I’m not sure if there’s been a change in ownership or a new kitchen crew, but the excellence this place once had is long gone. Burrata with cherry tomatoes was uninspiring and bland. I don’t want to list all the dishes we had. Most disappointingly, the tiramisu which used to be truly exceptional and highlight of our every meal here now tastes like something store bought. With quality going down, it’s hard to justify coming back. Honestly, I’d be surprised if this place manages to stay open another year.I’m genuinely heartbroken. I loved coming here, and it’s sad to see that the good times and the great food have come to an end. The prices no longer reflect the quality, and it seems like corners are being cut.
July 19 · Ed A.Best Sardinian restaurant in New York. I was sit in the lovely front room. The atmosphere was amazing. The fregola was truly authentic and full of flavor, and the wine pairing was excellent—one of the highlights of the meal.Unfortunately, the overall experience was let down by the service. In particular, the male waiter was unfriendly and inattentive, making us feel more like a bother than welcome guests. No smile, curt responses, and an attitude that didn’t match the warm and inviting cuisine being served.I might return for the food, but I sincerely hope the staff will better reflect the hospitality.
May 22 · Francesca ZaltronCool little place with great food and friendly service. Be sure to get the pane carasau and the tiramisu.
