E.A.K. RAMEN and IZAKAYA by Machida Shoten Hell’s Kitchen Introduce
In a city that prides itself on its world-class culinary scene, the quest for the perfect bowl of ramen is a serious pursuit for many New Yorkers. E.A.K. RAMEN and IZAKAYA by Machida Shoten, located in the heart of Hell's Kitchen, stands out as a unique and authentic destination for this Japanese staple. This isn't just another ramen shop; it’s an outpost of a famous Japanese chain, Machida Shoten, dedicated to bringing the specialized "Iekei" style of ramen to the world. For those unfamiliar with the term, "Iekei" (pronounced "E-A-K") is a unique fusion of two classic ramen styles: the rich, pork-based Tonkotsu from Western Japan and the lighter, soy sauce-based Shoyu from Tokyo. The result is a deeply flavorful, satisfyingly thick, and utterly unforgettable broth that perfectly coats a custom-made, thick, and bold noodle.
Beyond its signature ramen, E.A.K. offers a full Japanese izakaya experience. This means the menu is filled with a variety of small plates and appetizers perfect for sharing, complementing the main event. From crispy fried chicken to a selection of steamed buns and fresh poke bowls, there's something to satisfy every craving. The atmosphere is casual, cozy, and trendy, making it an ideal spot for a quick bite before a show, a laid-back dinner with friends, or a comfortable place for solo dining. The friendly and attentive staff ensures a fast and pleasant service, whether you're seated inside or opting for outdoor dining when available.
E.A.K. RAMEN has successfully captured the essence of a true Japanese ramen shop and brought it to the streets of New York. It's a place where you can find genuine comfort food that is prepared with care and attention to detail. The focus on quality ingredients, from the 18-hour-simmered broth to the carefully crafted noodles, is evident in every bowl. It's a great spot to warm up on a chilly New York evening or to find a truly satisfying meal that feels both authentic and special.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1This definitely taste homemade and fresh to order food. I got the Tokyo Chicken Shoyu Ramen. A lot of chicken and a lot of onions (diced onions & green onions). If you don't like onions don't get this dish. The broth was flavorful not intense though I wish I would've had the option to make it spicy. The chicken had little flavor. And although I did have to take some of the onions out because it was too much they actually compliment the broth really well. I also got the 5pc Chicken Karaage. Fried chicken thigh pieces served with 2 of your choice sauces. I went with the spicy garlic and curry. Spicy garlic, was oil with toasted garlic & chili flakes.. I believe. Not spicy at all nor does it have a garlic flavor, still good, but misleading. The Chicken Karaage was hot, fresh and juicy. Also got the Veggie Fried Rice, which is not the fried rice most of us are used to. This had bell peppers, mini tomatoes, celery and like 2 pieces of tiny cauliflower. Though I'm glad I tried it, it really lacked flavor. Overall, food was hot and fresh but left much to desire flavor wise. Service from my experience was great. We got to sit outside and even though we were the only ones out there, they were very attentive to our needs.
May 29 · Kimberly RodriguezWe really love this restaurant. It’s on a really cute blog and the restaurant is beautifully decorated. We ordered a bunch of things, including the oh so spicy miso Ramen, the wasabi marinated raw octopus, chicken carriage, and the poke bowl. Everything was really really good and just hit the spot!
May 18 · Vera JOn a chilly night, nothing hits the spot like a good bowl of ramen—and E.A.K. Ramen did not disappoint. I had the Oh-So-Hot Miso Ramen, and it was packed with flavor and just the right amount of heat. The portion was generous without being too much, and I left completely satisfied. The vibe was relaxed, and the staff were super friendly. Highly recommend!
July 26 · Alyssa KearneyI ordered the spicy one with a seasoned egg, i like the rich flavor and the combination of soy sauce and chicken broth! Overall pretty tasty
September 04 · Zoe YangGreat izakaya spot in theatre district that's good for quick lunch or fun dinner. Remember an amazingl popup experience when they took over Ramen lab when it was still open. Large standard izakaya menu selection, good ramen with flavorful broths. Friendly attentive service throughout the meal.
