El Barrista cafe Introduce
In the dynamic landscape of New York City's cafes, finding a spot that feels both trendy and genuinely cozy can be a challenge. El Barrista Cafe, located in the heart of East Harlem, is one such hidden treasure. More than just a coffee shop, it functions as a lounge, a vegetarian cafe, a deli, and even a wine bar, offering a multi-faceted experience that caters to a wide range of tastes and occasions. This Black-owned business has become a beloved local destination, known for its warm ambiance, friendly staff, and an extensive menu that goes far beyond your typical coffee and pastry shop.
The atmosphere at El Barrista Cafe is one of its most compelling features. Reviews consistently describe the space as a "beautiful and chill relaxed coffee spot" with a very calming vibe. The decor is tastefully done, and the lighting is perfect for both a casual chat and a focused work session. With plenty of plugs available, it's an ideal spot for anyone looking to get some work done on their laptop. Soft jazz music often fills the air, adding to the serene and inviting environment. This thoughtful attention to detail creates a space that feels like a true escape from the city's frantic pace.
El Barrista Cafe's menu is exceptionally diverse, offering something for every part of the day. The coffee selection is a major highlight, with a variety of classic and unique options, from a simple Americano to a special "Rocket Fuel" and "Nitro Cold Brew." While one reviewer noted the espresso base has a more bitter, Italian roast profile, the general consensus is that the coffee is great. Beyond traditional coffee, they boast a fantastic tea selection and a range of delicious Frappes, including the "Manhattan Special" and the option to "Create Your Own."
The food menu is equally impressive, blurring the lines between a coffee shop and a full-service restaurant. You can find a wide array of sweet pastries like the "Nutella Croissant" and "German Chocolate Brownie," alongside savory options such as a "Ham & Cheese Croissant" and various quiches. For a more substantial meal, their sandwiches and wraps are a must-try, with a menu featuring unique creations like the "Godfather Of Harlem" and the "Harlem Club." The "Avocado Toast" and "Brunch Avocado Toast" are also popular choices. They also offer a variety of delicious breakfast sandwiches and an array of waffles, ensuring you can find a satisfying meal at any time of day.
El Barrista Cafe is a community-centric business that prides itself on being an inclusive space. It is identified as LGBTQ+ friendly and a transgender safe space, making it a welcoming environment for all. This commitment to diversity and acceptance, combined with its family-friendly and kid-friendly crowd, makes it a place where everyone can feel comfortable. The cafe offers various service options, including outdoor seating, delivery, and takeout, providing great flexibility for patrons. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Yum yum yum! We were on a search to find a good coffee / bakery shop and this little hidden treasure hit the spot! The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful when we were deciding and the pastries and coffee were fresh and delicious. The area to eat our breakfast was nice and tastefully decorated. We loved this find!
August 12 · Tara HolsmanSuch a beautiful and chill relaxed coffee spot. Went on a saturday morning not too many people. Great and friendly Barista. I love the decor and lighting, very calming,(hopefully the pictures attached do it justice) music is soft jazz perfect for studying. I had the tomato and cheese quiche which was pretty good. Plenty of plugs available to plug in. The best thing honestly was the whole grain/oat hero bread toasted with butter. Very Tasty. The only reason i gave a 4 and not a 5 is just the espresso base used for the drink. I got a capuccino. It's a more burnt and bitter italian roast with no real depth in flavor. Everything else though was excellent.Would definitely return.
September 13 · Anthony MarchanIced mocca and cortadito were really good. The atmosphere was inmacullate, soft jazz playing at the right volume, not crowded but people coming in and out, staff were friendly. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a spot to get coffee and chill.
April 19 · Ryan BarretoStumbled upon this spot after hitting my gym down the street Axis Projects, and man oh man what a gem it is.You automatically feel the homey, neighborhood vibe with the bar up front and the well lit open space in the back. When I stoped by on a Friday afternoon the place was almost filled with people working away on their laptops enjoying the ambiance and soothing jazz music. The owner Emanuel is extremely friendly and personally takes care of everyone who comes in. Will definitely be back!
February 21 · Stinson Parks IIIThe owner was very personable, the cafe inside was inviting, and there was a nice ambiance, it also had a back area with tables and chairs. Love the paintings and how the owner wants to support the community by having various events. I had 2 rum punch and the avocado toast, which was delicious. I would definitely visit again. Nice addition to East harlem.
