What is Worth Choosing
For New York locals who appreciate a blend of delicious food, cultural authenticity, and practical convenience, El Jarochito is an excellent choice. What truly makes this establishment worth seeking out is its successful combination of three distinct services—bakery, deli, and restaurant—into one seamless, high-quality offering. It solves the need for fresh Mexican dessert and high-quality deli meats alongside authentic hot meals. Few places in Brooklyn offer this triad with such an extensive, traditional menu.
If you are looking for a satisfying, authentic Mexican meal, you must explore the Torta and Cemita menu, which features over a dozen meat combinations, all served on fresh bread that is undoubtedly sourced from their in-house bakery operations. The Al Pastor Torta, for example, featuring spicy pork with pineapple, is a standout sandwich that embodies true Mexican street food culture.
Furthermore, the bakery items themselves are a compelling reason to visit. The Conchas, which are Mexican sweet bread with a delicate, crunchy topping, are fresh daily and perfect for a morning coffee break. Planning a party? The custom Tres Leches Cakes are a highly-recommended centerpiece, moist and available with a multitude of fillings and designs. And for those looking to stock their pantry with high-quality ingredients for a Mexican-themed dinner at home, the Deli Cuts, like a pound of Skirt Steak or fresh Oaxaca Cheese, are invaluable, often unavailable at standard supermarkets.
While a few customer reviews have noted occasional challenges with service attitude or price transparency, the overwhelmingly positive sentiment for the quality of the food and baked goods remains a powerful draw. The delicious, authentic flavors and the extensive menu of both savory dishes (like Birria Tacos, especially on the weekend) and sweet treats (like Tres Leches Slices and homemade Paletas) solidify El Jarochito’s reputation as an authentic Mexican destination in the heart of Brooklyn. It’s a place where a New York minute can pause for a taste of traditional Mexico.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I went in thinking I would buy some tacos for lunch, but I noticed they have no prices posted for their food so I went to the back where apparently they make the food and got a menu thinking I would find the prices there, but they had the prices marked out with a marker. I asked the lady how much one taco is and she said $4. Now I know why they hide their prices.. no taco should ever cost that much. They must be serving gigantic tacos to justify that price.
July 30 · Randy AmadoFood and cakes are good. The counter girl has an attitude look on her face. I went in said good afternoon and nothing, I go get what I wanted to buy and didn't notice she was attending another customer, I waited when I realized but instead she continued to ignore me even after they left. I was not rude nor do I know the girl. Seeing there were no more customers in the store and she was just being rude I left the products at the counter since she refused to even acknowledge that I was ready to pay.
March 29 · Mariella LargoEvery Thursday I get the Torta de carne asada with a side of green salsa . The best hands down in the neighborhood. If you're looking for authentic place they don't play!
