★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Nice ambiance and great service. The good was good, but only the pork dumplings wowed me out of several dishes. The naan and the whipped cheese were also very good. The beet and watermelon salad leaned too hard on the beets, and the beef tartare was a bit dull. The staff was friendly and the waitress very attentive and kind.
September 10 · Javier KohenSo glad we tried this place out. Everyone was so accommodating from the host to the bartender who served and created refreshing cocktails and a nice wine list. The place is simple yet beautiful, the back of the restaurant is wrapped in beautiful green tiles which really make the space. Especially loved the lettuce wrapped tilefish and the short rib. The chef came to our table with the mains. We will be coming back soon to check out the other items on the menu!
September 18 · Ana MylesCritically acclaimed restaurant by Chef Suzanne Cupps. She gave us a new appreciation for all the familiar Asian dishes, and breathe new life into them.Beef tartar was excellent. Refreshing, well balanced, and interesting textures from both the beef and pearl barley.Beets and watermelon salad was another fresh and delicious take on an otherwise common ingredients. Beets were sweet, perfectly balanced with the use of vinegar, with the sweet crunch from the watermelon.Fried fish lettuce wrap, one of the highly recommended dishes, and they were accommodating enough to let me order one. Fish was nicely fried, paired well with the pickle and sweet lettuce.Crispy chicken thigh was another must have. Good fried chicken is actually not always easy to come by. It was perfectly fried, shattering crispy coating and skins, and the juicy chicken. Drizzle some of the sweet spicy sticky sauce and a sprinkle of coconut vinegar, the perfect harmony.Scallop ochazuke was another amazingly unique twist. I expected some rice, and I got none. Instead, it was perfectly seared scallop on a bed of sweet corn in a delicious flavorful stock, and a strong waft of sake, almost making me a little tipsy. Very comforting at the same time.Must visit when visiting NYC.
August 31 · Joshua YoungLola's, oh Lord! Lola's has this unspoken elegance etched in every last detail from the decor, to the water cups, to the service, and most importantly, the food. The atmosphere exudes fine dining woven around a warm-hearted casual professional air of care. It's refreshing and away from the stoic pretentiousness that other fine dining restauarants seem to give off. Now to the food. The tilefish lettuce wraps, B.L.T, scallops, short rib, and the coco jam chocolate cake were all -Chef's Kiss-. This is the first time, I've smiled throughout the entirety of my meal. But the star of the show has to be Suzanne, the Chef/Owner. As someone that has worked in the industry before, it can obviously get very hectic very fast given the fast paced nature of dining. Sitting on the kitchen counter bar, my friend and I were able to watch Suzanne conduct her culinary orchestra. She is methodical with all her moves, attentive to every dish being sent out, and poised in every moment. With all that said, Suzanne took a brief moment during the heat of service to talk about her attempt at making coco jam from the Philippines (So Good, obviously). That was everything, just wow. One of my favorite dining experiences, honestly ever. I have no words, just smiles. Salamat, Suzanne and to Lola's! Spectacular!
September 05 · Wilson TanWe loved esting at Lola's! Fresh ingredients, great use of textures, and fun atmosphere eating at the counter! Everything was delicious. Can't recommend the naan enough. Will definitely return for another date night!
