★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Not cheap but the atmosphere is top notch, the decor is amazing and the people watching doesn't get better. The food is good, not out of this world but certainly solid. The drinks are great, not overly imaginative but executed very well.
August 30 · Christopher SchwartzAs someone who enjoys checking out new restaurants in the city, I was excited to try Maison Nur with a friend visiting from Italy. The photos online promised an incredible ambiance, and I was eager to share that experience.Unfortunately, the reality was far from what we expected. The only reservation available was at 9:45pm. Even though we arrived a few minutes early, our table wasn’t ready and we ended up waiting close to 30 minutes before being seated in a cramped loft space overlooking the bar. It then took another 15 minutes before anyone acknowledged us. Our server eventually apologized and offered a round of drinks on the house, which was appreciated, but those drinks didn’t arrive for another 15–20 minutes, and only then was our order taken. By this point, it was nearly 10:45pm, at which time we were informed that many menu items were no longer available. After waiting so long, this was beyond frustrating. We ordered what was still available: tuna tartare, crudo, duck, and steak au poivre. The tuna tartare, crudo, and steak were impressive; the duck was fine, but not memorable. Throughout the meal, our water glasses sat empty more than once, and we had to flag someone down for refills.By the time we were ready for the check, we were already pressed for time to make it to a birthday party. The bill arrived, and we put down two cards without looking closely, only to realize (thankfully, before leaving) that we’d been charged for the “on the house” drinks and even drinks we hadn’t ordered at all. Fixing the error took nearly an hour. On top of that, we noticed that gratuity had been set at 29%, even though we had already left 20%, which was generous given the circumstances. That, too, had to be corrected. What struck me most was that at no point did a manager stop by to acknowledge the repeated issues, delays, or billing mistakes. For a restaurant with such a stunning ambiance, the complete lack of hospitality and care was disappointing.I generally focus on posting positive reviews, but in this case, I cannot recommend Maison Nur. While the setting is beautiful, there are many other places in the city where you’ll feel valued as a guest - and where the experience lives up to the photos.
September 07 · Manisha MarberryI was really impressed with this place! The atmosphere was nice: fancy, but not too stuffy. The staff were all super friendly, too. But the standout was definitely the food!! The dishes were all amazing and so pretty. You can tell a lot of heart was put into each dish. The dover sole is definitely a must try, and the tuna tartare was great (has wasabi on it). Don't skip the dessert, either, they're really cute! Good for a date or with friends.
August 28 · Betty WongBeautiful space with excellent French inspired bites. The club event space downstairs has the best sound system I’ve heard. This place is truly a gem
June 20 · Alex KimThis place is amazing. It’s like the best of NYC from all the best eras of downtown New York combined into one. I went with my girlfriend for dinner and drinks. First thing we noticed the staff was super friendly and made us feel at home. I love art and the entire main dining room is built around a massive Damien Hirst. Not expecting this in a restaurant but very happily surprised. Also, tables were spaced far enough apart to have privacy and elbow room. We had the duck and lamb that were two of the best dishes I’ve ever had. Flavor combos that were unexpected but not so crazy that it was unfamiliar. Honestly, nothing I can say to make this place better. The bar filled up with what looked like all the cool kids while we ate and by the time we finished eating some new friend invited us downstairs and…what happens in the jungle room stays I. The jungle room I’ll say no more other than it has leopard print stairs.
