The Majestic Delicatessen in New York was a convenient spot to duck into on a hot summer day with its refreshing air conditioning, but the food itself was a letdown. The Reuben sandwich we ordered was dry and lacked the rich, hearty flavor you’d expect from a classic New York deli, and the premade salad was just average at best. Overall, it didn’t live up to the traditional deli experience you imagine when thinking of New York, and it’s not a place I’d be eager to return to.

Decent food at exorbitant prices. Great location, fun decor, good selection (and coffee drinks), the bagels are good, omelette reportedly tasty (my wife had that), but the prices… I mean, it IS midtown Manhattan, but we paid only a third more last night for amazing tapas AND wine, including tip, just a few blocks south (I’ll post about that place separately!)

Service is fast, and the servers are nice. The pastrami had a lot of tough pieces. The Italian sandwich was good. And the chocolate mouse was very good. It was too expensive for what it was, but it was to be expected.
