What is Worth Choosing
New Yee Li presents itself as a genuinely appealing choice for New Yorkers, particularly those in Brooklyn, seeking authentic, high-quality Cantonese food. What makes it truly worth choosing is the combination of its traditional specialization, its unbeatable value proposition, and its expansive menu depth.
Firstly, the strength of the Cantonese BBQ meats cannot be overstated. When a customer states they would return "just for that" (referring to the sweet Roast Pork), it speaks volumes about the quality of the charcuterie. Opting for a combo plate of Roast Duck and Roast Pork is the definitive New Yee Li experience, offering succulent meat and crispy skin that rivals established Chinatown spots. The knowledge that authentic restaurants may focus on traditional accompaniments like ginger-scallion sauce (the 'green sauce') rather than Americanized sauces like duck sauce or sweet & sour further reinforces the authenticity of their offering.
Secondly, the restaurant is a champion of value and comfort. The lunch specials—where satisfying, full meals like General Tso Chicken On Rice or Braised Pork Belly On Rice are available for just $10.00—provide an essential, affordable solution for the daily lunch rush. Similarly, the wide range of classic Noodle Soup options, all around the $9-$10 mark, are perfect for a quick, warming, and comforting meal any time of the day. The "Sorrowful Rice" is also a fun, cult-favorite dish for those in the know.
Finally, the menu’s balance between traditional Chinese fare (Amoy Chow Mai Fun, Cilantro and Minced Beef Soup) and approachable classics (Sesame Chicken, Beef with Broccoli) ensures every diner will find something to love. Whether you are adventurous or craving a familiar favorite, New Yee Li delivers. It is a reliable, casual spot that accepts reservations and is family-friendly, making it a stress-free option for any dining scenario in the busy landscape of Brooklyn.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1**BE VERY CAREFUL**Always check your receipt. They will charge you more than they said.I placed an order for pick up and I repeatedly asked if the order will be $25. She said yes. After I picked up my food I checked the receipt, and they charged me $35. I was already too far away to go back.I called and I said hi you charged me $35 not $25. Those were the only words I could get in. She spoke over me for 2 minutes and I asked could you let me speak me. She continued talking and then hung up.Extremely rude.
August 19 · J. LewisFirst time here, I saw a picture in their reviews and decided to get it since it looked good.I got roast duck & roast pork with white rice. They only serve white rice. I didn’t like the duck, only the pork. The pork has a sweet taste to it, very nice.I’ll definitely be back just for that.Sucks they had no sweet & sour, duck sauce, or hot sauce. But I figure that all authentic restaurants don’t carry these sauces. That’s green sauce in the picture. It’s some type of ginger sauce, I forgot what exactly.
February 18 · SBritVery limited parking. We had a good service. The food came out fairly quickly. We ordered the steak with onion. The meat was cheap and not good at all. We also ordered the Beef Chow Fun, which was very good. The Sweet and Sour Pork chops were average. The steamed short ribs were also very good.
December 17 · Wai01It was under renovation recently and the ambiance improved not sure if it's under new management, but I see the same people there. I usually stop by when visiting my mom. They have authentic Chinese dishes and very reasonably priced. There are tables to sit when dining in and the staff is friendly and efficient. Nice family portions for sharing and they gift soup. They treat you like family. If you ask them for recommendations, you won't be disappointed! Always love stopping by.
March 02 · Teresa TThe duck, roast pork fried rice, and braised bean curd were amazingly delicious and the prices were great too, especially for the duck. I can’t wait to go back. New favorite place for Chinese food in Brooklyn.
