The dining experience is designed to be both refined and inviting. This lively, modern, yet warm environment makes Oko Rye a popular spot for a variety of patrons—from families and groups celebrating to dedicated "foodies" focused on the Omakase journey. The staff is generally attentive, ensuring a professional dining experience, although some guests note the bar service can occasionally be less focused, a small point in an otherwise excellent overall delivery of food quality and sophisticated atmosphere.
The food and beverage offerings are extensive and carefully curated. Beyond the raw bar, the menu features unique items like the Crispy Spicy Salmon and Tuna Nigiri, various Yakitori options including Chicken and Hanger Steak, and innovative starters such as the Shiso Chips & Dip. The bar offers a wide selection of Alcohol, Beer, Hard Liquor, and Wine, with a particular highlight on creative Cocktails, like the Japanese Old Fashioned, and a great Tea selection, adding layers to the full dining experience. For those looking for a complete and highly curated meal, the multi-course OKO-KASE tasting menu is available by reservation, offering the chef’s personalized selection of the day’s finest ingredients and preparations.

What is Worth Choosing
For any New Yorker seeking an exceptional dining experience, Oko Rye is definitively worth choosing for its uncompromising commitment to quality, flavor, and sophisticated ambiance. The price point is higher, as customers acknowledge, but this is directly tied to the superior quality of the ingredients, a fact that makes the experience "worth it."
The most compelling reason to visit is the expertly executed raw fish and the option for the Omakase experience. Customers rave about the Nigiri, with many highly recommending the Chef's Choice assortments, a testament to the Sushi Chef's skill and the freshness of the product. Specifically, the "spicy crispy salmon and tuna" and the King Salmon Poke are noted favorites that showcase the restaurant’s creative flair.
Beyond the sushi, the inventive small plates and Yakitori options—like the Blistered Shishitos or the Japanese Eggplant & Mushroom Yakitori—offer a healthy and flavorful counterpoint to the raw dishes. The bar program is another key highlight; the Japanese Old Fashioned, for example, proves that the same attention to quality and creativity extends to the beverage menu. While the atmosphere is 'cozy' and 'trendy,' and the food is consistently excellent, the best way to ensure a seamless visit is to heed the advice of planning ahead: make a dinner reservation to avoid any wait, particularly if you prefer a table over the lively bar seating. Oko Rye offers a taste of world-class, contemporary Japanese cuisine that makes the trip to Westchester a truly rewarding culinary journey.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Excellent food, nice service.Oko is a small, quiet place with excellent Japanese food. I recommend ordering the chef's choice of nigiri. I also recommend the spicy crispy salmon and tuna. It's an expensive place, but it's worth it for the quality, flavor and service.
June 28 · Alexandre DucattiOk so the quality of service is very important to me, just as much as how good the food is..The food was not a problem here although I only truly loved 2 dishes put of the 5 we got that time. The service was OK, we sat at the bar and they were dismissive and not attentive and patient.Drinks were on point! I had a Japanese old fashioned, it was pricey but I guess it was for the quality so I'm fine with that. The atmosphere is ok, it didn't give me a good feeling being there honestly. We wanted a table but he said he didn't have space so we sat at the bar and the tables were as empty for the rest of the time we were there as when we got there.. but whatever, I like seating at the bar anyways..I might give this place a second chance but who knows.. I'll let you know tho!
May 20 · Ruth PoerschOne of the best sushi experiences in Westchester. Amazing food, atmosphere and friendly staff. The flavors are sooo good. The CRUNCHY POTATO/MUSHROOM HAND ROLL is an absolute MUST! Do not skip this on the menu, the flavors really surprised us and quickly became a favorite of the evening. We ordered the scallop hand roll, many different pieces of sushi (black cod, king crab, scallop, etc) and ships chips and dip, but the CRUNCHY POTATO/MUSHROOM HAND ROLL blew us away! It was Smokey, crunchy, and full of flavor. Give it a try! .
April 26 · RYKA FinanceOn our way home from another dinner we popped into Oko for a night cap. Everyone from the host, manager and bartender were all very welcoming. The open kitchen concept is awesome and great to look at when you’re sitting at the bar. Despite us only stopping in for a nightcap, the bartender (we forgot his name, but he had a really cool Scandavian tattoo) was so friendly and took the time to give us a menu tour despite him being busy. We ended up having a couple of the crispy Wagyu bites and a ricotta cheesecake. The sake paper plane is also SO good!We will definitely be back to try more of the core menu. Keep doing what you’re doing!
July 10 · Heather LaRoseTruly cannot speak more highly of Oko and the Okokase experience. The attention to detail Chef Christian and the entire team took was truly unmatched. Each course was better than the next and the casual setting made the food stand out that much more. If I could give more stars I would.
