★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Was going to a show at the Lincoln center and this restaurant was right across the street so we decided to check it out on a recommendation from a friend. I'm so glad I did because everything about this place was phenomenal!!! I made a reservation online and we were seated as soon as we walked in the door. Our waitress came over immediately. Brought us water told us about the menu and that they were known for their burgers. So obviously that's what we had to try! It was absolutely cooked too perfection and the fries are shoestring fries and we're absolutely delicious. We started with a couple of cocktails and I was obsessed with the little old school red and white tablecloths they had as well. Every single person we encountered on this staff was friendly and helpful and wonderful. I cannot recommend this place enough. Prices were very average for New York but the atmosphere puts this place over the top!!! I will definitely go back!
May 02 · Aimée RobidouxWe were greeted by the host with a smile on her face and brought us to our table. Not too long after we were also greeted by our waiter, who provided us with the menu and gave us a little time before coming back to take out order. Once our waiter had returned to take out order, the look on his face seemed displeased and didn’t want to care much. The look on his face gave me the impression of “hurry up and order.” Every waiter that brought us either our drinks or food were super polite and kind. We ordered almost $200 worth of food plus drinks and it was just my wife and I. As I was observing our waiter going around his other tables, he was making small talks, laughing, making jokes however, when he returned back to my table, he had an angry look on his face as if he didn’t want to serve us. I am not sure if he had anything against Asians, but all the people who were dinning were definitely not Asian race. I had told our waiter to tone it down with his attitude, and he even apologized. Given that, it means he was giving us an attitude throughout the entire dinner service.
August 24 · S MHonestly, this was a demeaning experience. We came to the Lincoln Square location of P.J. Clarke’s hoping for a classic, satisfying meal. Instead, we waited nearly 40 minutes for two burgers (both The Cadillac) and a lobster roll (I chose it Maine style, which supposedly has mayonnaise and lemon but I’ve personally found no trace of them). When the food finally arrived, the burgers weren’t cooked as we asked them to (one medium rare and the other one medium), and the fries were shockingly bad and I mean probably the worst I’ve ever had in my life, cold, stale, and borderline inedible. The so-called waffle fries were chips soaked in what seemed like 6-days-old oil. It takes real effort to serve fries that awful. Now I know this might sound harsh but I have high food standards (and I at least expect my food to be edible) since I’m Italian but I also have years of experience in a kitchen myself so the meal that arrived to my table today hardly makes sense to me! Especially if we’re considering that P.J. Clarke’s name has been around since 1884!The lobster roll? Cold (now the lobster can be served at low temperatures without altering its flavor) but the bun tasted as if it was sitting there for 40 minutes, oh wait, it did! The Lobster Roll was not terrible, (how could you go wrong with lobster?!) but definitely not what you’d expect from a place that prides itself on East Coast staples and managed to open multiple locations in the City. Furthermore these chips it came with were truly unapproachable! The Dessert we were told was a “key lime pie” turned out to be a lime cheesecake with very sugary whipped cream, again, not bad, but kinda misleading. On the bright side there was the service at least, with Shona, our waitress. She gave us a great table, offered us to take the fries off our bill and delivered a good service. Without her, this would have easily been be a one-star review, no question. In the end, nothing about the food felt really cared for and despite the lobster and the lime cheesecake were good nothing else was really outstanding. In the burgers you can’t taste the cheese and the bacon they came with had the right saltiness but was not crispy. For the price and reputation, this felt like a slap in the face. A deeply underwhelming and ultimately disappointing meal.I was definitely expecting something more!
July 02 · Ivan OttavianAmazing burger! Bun was soft, meat was perfectly charred, and nothing was overwhelming. Really good balance. The chicken milanese also stood out, and I was able to take half of it back home since it was such a generous serving. Maybe skip the pretzels - they were a bit too rich for us. Great experience dining here late after the movies on a friday night. It can get a bit loud if the bar is full but I would definitely come again. Great american classics!
June 07 · Bianca RitortoWe have been here many times, and the service is hit or miss. The server we had recently was rude and dismissive. He came to the table and instead of greeting us, he literally said “yes…” - I could have entered what we wanted into the system myself and not deal with his dismissive behavior.Anyways, that was one server. We’ve also had very pleasant staff that were great. They are often very busy around 6:00pm to accommodate for the Lincoln center crowd. So if you don’t like a busy environment, avoid 6-7pm.Food is good, nothing spectacular. The hummus is delicious. Crab cakes are very salty.
