What is worth choosing? Ploume positions itself as a destination for those who value a unique, speakeasy-style experience with a focus on expertly made cocktails. The trendy and cozy atmosphere, coupled with its exclusive subterranean location, can be very appealing for a special night out. The fact that it accepts reservations is a definite plus for planning group events.
However, it is important for potential patrons to be aware of the experiences shared in some customer reviews. The provided reviews highlight serious issues with reservation management and customer service. One review details a frustrating experience where a confirmed reservation for a special occasion was not honored, leading to a long wait and an unacceptable "solution." Another review points to a lack of ingredient knowledge and a willingness to deceive customers, which could be a significant issue for a bar that prides itself on its cocktails. While these are just two accounts, they point to potential inconsistencies in service that a patron should be prepared for, especially given the bar’s high prices.
For those who prioritize atmosphere and are willing to take a chance on a potentially inconsistent experience, Ploume might be an interesting choice. However, for a special occasion where reliability and impeccable service are a must, it may be prudent to consider these reviews and perhaps choose a different venue. When visiting, it is recommended to manage expectations and to confirm all details directly with the bar to avoid any potential disappointment.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1If you’re thinking about making a birthday reservation here or for any type of special occasion here, dont. I should have listened to the below review who also had a bad experience with reservations. A group of 8 of us show up for an 8:30 reservation in the downstairs area, Ploume. When we get there, guess what they tell us? The downstairs area isnt opening up until 10:30 because there is a private party instead.Mind you, the birthday girl had called two weeks prior to the day to confirm said reservations. We were upset to say the least. They said we could stay in their upstairs bar but we came for the speakeasy vibes in the basement. We did not come for no regular vibes at the upstairs part.Seeing that we were not going to give up on being accommodated, the manager said hed put us in a ‘private room’ next to the private event to satisfy our reservation. This took a little over 40 minutes and they had not compt any drinks for their mistake by then. For 40 minutes we waited upstairs with no water offered or complimentary cocktails, nothing. They didnt want to take us through the private party because it was too “packed” so they took us through the side of the building, through the residential building next door, through a storage back room into what looked like a literal CLOSET with no lights. Sooo its 8 women in a tiny room shoulder to shoulder and now they have brought out the cheapest bottles of sparkling wine.Truthfully, it kind of looked like a dj room or service closet. It had a huge open window to the party so we could visually see that the private party was not packed and we could have walked through it just fine. We did not stay. We finished up our drinks and left. That was the worst experience of costumer service ever.
September 08 · Brown Girl ClubI highly recommend everyone to know what goes into the cocktails that you order. I ordered a cocktail here that the bartenders said they could make. I watched them make it incorrectly and when I called them out for it they claimed they don’t have the correct ingredients to make it. First of all you did have the correct ingredients because I pointed them out for the bartenders. Secondly, if you claim to not have the ingredients then why are you making me the wrong cocktail to begin with? Very bad look for a place that is so expensive. I would rather you tell me you do not know how to make a naked and famous rather than trying to get one over me by making the incorrect cocktail for 30$.
April 19 · Dakota TeaguePloume, tucked under The Ivory Peacock, has a cool speakeasy vibe, great cocktails, and just the right mix of energy and chill.
August 13 · Éabha KeaneIf you want to spend $30 on a rail drink, come here. There was also a very limited number of people actually here, but that makes sense since they are so overpriced.
April 23 · K MGreat spot to go out! Best cocktails in the city
