Savta Introduce
For those looking for a unique and memorable dining experience in New York City, look no further than Savta. Nestled in the heart of the historic West Village, this restaurant offers a refreshing take on American dining by expertly blending the vibrant, vegetable-forward spirit of California cuisine with the timeless elegance of French cooking. It’s a combination that might surprise you, but it’s one that promises a delightful culinary journey. Whether you’re a lifelong New Yorker or just visiting, Savta provides a warm, inviting atmosphere that feels both familiar and exciting.
The name “Savta” means “grandmother” in Hebrew, and this sense of family and tradition is at the core of the restaurant’s concept. Owner Vincent Benoliel pays homage to his own grandmother, who was a significant influence on his passion for cooking and baking. This personal connection is evident in every detail, from the homemade bread served to every table—a nod to the location’s history as the former Zito & Sons Bakery—to the meticulous care taken in crafting each dish. This blend of personal history, classic techniques, and modern flavors makes Savta more than just a place to eat; it’s a place to experience a thoughtfully curated meal in a space that feels like a home away from home.
The menu at Savta is a testament to its dual identity. You’ll find a strong emphasis on fresh, high-quality ingredients, with many dishes highlighting the natural goodness of vegetables. Diners can explore a variety of options, from a crisp, inventive salad to the rich, comforting flavors of a classic French dish. This culinary approach ensures there’s something for every palate, whether you’re seeking a light and healthy meal or something more decadent. The friendly and attentive service ensures you feel welcomed from the moment you step inside, with staff who are happy to guide you through the menu and recommend the perfect wine pairing.
Savta has quickly become a beloved spot in the West Village, praised by locals and visitors alike for its charming ambiance and delicious food. It’s the kind of place you’ll want to return to again and again, whether for a romantic date night, a casual dinner with friends, or a special occasion. The cozy, rustic interior, with its exposed brick and warm lighting, creates an intimate setting that encourages you to relax and enjoy the moment. For anyone in search of a restaurant that offers both incredible food and a truly special atmosphere, Savta is a destination that should be at the top of your list.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Came for our anniversary dinner and had an amazing time. The ambiance is very comforting and relaxing. The perfect place to wind down with a friend or partner and get a bite.Wasn’t sure was Californian food was so this was an experience. We really enjoyed the bread and specifically the Tapenade starter! Highly recommend. It was our favorite! The rest of the food was great, a little too rich or salty for me. The artichoke was great! Woah it was more fried. The service was great, slow paced yet attention. Was able to order leisurely and take our time enjoying the evening.

April 10 · Adam GiladiWas led to Savta by the InKind App and am so thankful . Such a charming spot . You can sit inside but still feel like you are outside . This is because of their big window and lovely garden area in the back . Absolutely loved their Italian ginger ale and the food was fantastic . Shot out to Santiago who showed warmth and hospitality to all guests . They also have a great happy hour and brunch . Go check it out .
September 12 · Kristen (Gypsy Monkey)It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon, and we decided to hit the Greenwich Village neighborhood looking for a place to sit outside and people view. This location gave us that, and the food was good. The courtesy bread and the cheese spead to start your meal was delicious. Enjoyed my visit!
