★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1If you’re craving authentic Guyanese food in Queens, Shanta’s is easily one of the best spots around. Every visit has been a flavorful journey, the food is always fresh, well-prepared, and hits all the right notes of comfort and nostalgia. My go-to favorites? The Saltfish, Potato & Bake, a classic done right every timeThe Potato Ball - golden, crispy perfection with that familiar Guyanese touchUnlike some places in NY that claim to serve authentic Guyanese cuisine, Shanta’s delivers the real deal. It truly brings a little piece of home right here to New York. The staff has been easy to communicate with in my experience, and the vibes are generally pleasant. That said, customer service could use a bit of polish. One recommendation would be to implement a numbering system to manage the crowd, it does get packed (because the food’s that good), and a more organized system would go a long way.Still, Shanta’s continues to earn its place as a neighborhood favorite. Highly recommend if you’re after legit Guyanese eats and a reminder of home.

July 28 · Imran Khanhonestly this was my favorite spot to get the best potatoe balls however these employees were so rude while shanta was present, rude to the point i do not want to eat here again also have no respect for customers these are reason small businesses gets fall behind its a very great addition to our community but with this attitude and behavior sale will become very difficult, to the cashier please learn to respect elders and customers in general, show some politeness and gratitude also smile once a day if your not happy being there dear please quit.
August 24 · The Bheir’sFirst time trying food from here it was delicious can’t complain about that, however the workers have to quit that tone shouting at people for simple things, I’ve read through many many reviews of people complaining about the worker’s behavior I hope people could feel some what welcoming vibes from people there.
