Smiley Coffee Introduce
Introduction / Overview
In a city overflowing with coffee shops on every corner, Smiley Coffee has carved out a special place for itself in the vibrant Lower East Side. This is not your average grab-and-go spot; it's a destination designed to be an experience. The moment you step inside, you are transported to a place that feels less like a typical New York coffee shop and more like a European cafe. The ambiance is a major draw, with a stylish and curated aesthetic that is both cozy and trendy. The interior, with its dark wood tones and pops of color, creates a welcoming and photogenic environment that has made it a favorite on social media. While the primary offering is, of course, coffee, Smiley Coffee sets itself apart with a menu of unique signature drinks that are both visually appealing and creatively flavored. It's a place where you can enjoy a classic espresso or venture into something more adventurous, like a "Smiley Cloud Cap." Beyond the drinks, the atmosphere is defined by its friendly staff, who contribute to the warm and inviting feeling. The gentle hum of jazz music playing in the background adds another layer to the relaxing and memorable experience. Smiley Coffee is a perfect place to slow down, unwind, and enjoy a moment of tranquility in the midst of the city's hustle. While some reviews mention that the coffee itself might be a work in progress, the overall vibe, aesthetic, and unique menu offerings make it a worthwhile visit for anyone who values a great atmosphere as much as a great cup of joe.

What is worth choosing
Choosing Smiley Coffee is a choice to prioritize the overall experience as much as the beverage itself. While some customer reviews mention a potential for inconsistency in the coffee quality, with some finding it to be under or over-extracted, others have had positive experiences with specific drinks. The Americano and the drip coffee, for instance, were noted as being quite good. The true reason to visit Smiley Coffee, however, is for its unique atmosphere and signature menu. The "Smiley Cloud Cap" is a must-try for those who enjoy a new and exciting twist on their coffee. Its combination of a unique cold foam and espresso is a memorable experience, even if the portion size is small. The ambiance, which has been described as feeling like a "European cafe culture," is what keeps people coming back. The friendly staff and the jazz music create an environment that is a welcome escape from the frantic pace of the city. It’s the kind of place you’d bring a friend to catch up, or a spot to sit and read a book for a while. The shop’s aesthetic is undoubtedly a key feature, making it a very "Instagrammable" location, which appeals to a modern audience. While the coffee may not be universally praised as the best in the city, the overall charm, friendly service, and creative menu options make Smiley Coffee a top choice for a casual, comfortable, and memorable coffee break. It is a place that promises more than just a caffeine fix; it offers a moment of style and tranquility in the heart of the Lower East Side.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I ordered an oat milk latte and it tasted sour.I wasn’t sure if the milk itself was bad or the coffee beans themselves have very acidic notes, but my coffee unfortunately was not very good- but my husband’s Americano tasted fine. The service and aesthetics are good, but coffee has not yet been perfected.
July 27 · Carolina RichardsonI absolutely LOVE this place for the ambiance, the aesthetic, and the way it feels like European cafe culture. The staff is also very friendly, and I love that they play jazz music inside. HOWEVER, and I hate to say it, the coffee is not very good. It appears the baristas are not dialing in the beans correctly and either under or over extracting. If they’re able to master this, this will undoubtedly be the spot. Nothing worse than loving everything about a coffee shop, except for the coffee itself :(
August 04 · Mark DeleonSuper cute coffee shop with excellent coffee. Really enjoyed stopping in here.
July 21 · Ashley WagonlanderGreat coffee, very attentive crew and adorable cozy cafe. Looks like a scene from a romantic movie
August 17 · Hagai GringartenThe place was nice with cute aesthetics and lovely staff. I ordered the cherry foam cold brew and it tasted really bad though. The coffee was incredibly sour and it had a really off taste, I don’t know what it was. It genuinely left me feeling sick the whole day. I’ve seen a few similar reviews of sour coffee so would recommend looking into that, I think there’s potential for this to be a really great spot location and aesthetic wise it’s just the coffee was awful.
