Taiyaki NYC - Williamsburg Introduce
Located on the ever-bustling Bedford Avenue in Williamsburg, Taiyaki NYC is a destination that truly stands out in Brooklyn's diverse dessert scene. This unique shop brings a beloved Japanese street food tradition to New York, re-imagining the classic Taiyaki pastry as a vessel for delicious soft-serve ice cream. The concept is simple yet brilliant: a warm, freshly-made, fish-shaped waffle cone serves as the foundation for a cold, creamy swirl of ice cream. This contrast of hot and cold, crispy and soft, is an experience that delights the senses and has made Taiyaki NYC a viral sensation. Beyond the visual appeal, the shop is a testament to the idea that a great dessert is about more than just a gimmick; it's about a commitment to quality ingredients and a fun, creative approach.
Taiyaki NYC is more than just an ice cream shop; it’s a small, Asian-owned business that celebrates a rich culinary heritage while adapting it for a modern, trend-conscious audience. The name itself, "Taiyaki," refers to the fish-shaped cake, which in Japan is traditionally filled with red bean paste or custard. At Taiyaki NYC, they take this tradition and build upon it, offering a variety of soft-serve flavors that pair perfectly with the unique cone. The menu is a playground of creative combinations, such as the "Straight Outta Japan" which features a swirl of matcha and hojicha ice cream, or the "Unicorn Taiyaki" with its vibrant, whimsical appeal. This blend of classic flavors with modern, Instagram-worthy aesthetics is a key reason for the shop's popularity and has solidified its reputation as a must-visit spot for both tourists and locals.
What truly sets Taiyaki NYC apart is the quality of its products. As one customer raved, the ice cream is "tasty, tasty," with a "perfect natural vanilla flavor" and an "excellent mouthfeel." The Taiyaki cone itself is praised for being "crispy and chewy" with a "well, custardy" filling. This attention to detail ensures that the experience is not just visually appealing but genuinely delicious. The bakery also offers traditional Taiyaki without ice cream, as well as light and fluffy Souffle Pancakes, providing a variety of options for every craving. The commitment to a fresh product is evident, and the fast service ensures that even when there's a crowd, you won't be waiting long for your sweet treat. The shop's trendy yet casual atmosphere makes it a comfortable spot for a quick visit, and its family-friendly and LGBTQ+ friendly environment ensures that everyone feels welcome.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Yum! Tasty, tasty ice cream. Thick, with perfect natural vanilla flavor, and excellent mouthfeel, served in a perfect たい焼きcone. The crust was crispy and chewy. The custard , well, custardy…Not too sweet. Very “moorish”. kind helpful staff. I hope to come back soon.
August 03 · Thomas SiegmanMini fish, some have red bean some dont, strawberry cream super light and fresh. Matcha ice cream is also good
July 10 · Rhea SStopped by today with my son. We arrived five minutes before it opened. Although, it was our first time here, the staff was incredibly helpful and patient as my son made his selection. Our order was ready within a few minutes. The quality and taste blew me away. I look forward to returning often!
December 08 · Joy ElizabethSo my husband found this place and we up and went. I got the hojicha icecream in a bear (no filling) which was a good size, not too sweet, soft in the middle and a cookie monster donut. He ordered a matcha better, the bean filling is nice and smooth and the icecream was creamy, the rainbow mochi wasn't sweet at all which was delightful. He also asked for a churro donut but he was given a chocolate heaven donut instead. Other than that everything was yummy, the donuts nice and fluffy can't wait to go back next time and try something else since they was about to close and had limited things left.
February 17 · Tattiana PetersWe love the taiyaki chain! Yes, the treats are a tiny bit pricey but they’re so tasty and we love taking our friends out here. The staff at this little shop were kind and pointed us to a washroom as the store itself doesn’t have one.
