The Elgin Reviews
We came here after a graduation at St Patrick Cathedral with 7 people. The restaurant and bar was packed with people and we were seated promptly. Even though we did not arrive at the same time, the waitress was super friendly and able to manage all our orders timely and orderly. The restaurant atmosphere was bustling and warm. The food was typical average bar food with very good price right by Rockefeller center
June 17 · ChristineI made a pre-show res for dinner for two at The Elgin, but an oops on my part, we went in April, but I made the res for May. The place was mobbed, a couple with no res was turned away, but a server knew of an empty table upstairs and hooked us up right away. Kudos, and sigh of relief. So first off, if you're looking for a quiet spot for dinner, this is not it. It was noisy, but somehow added to the good vibe. We needed a drink after that close call, and had two House Old Fashioned in front of us in minutes. The good service continued throughout. As for the food, the Humus Trio Plate to start was the star of the show, subtle different flavors between the three servings of humus with pita and veggies. My Ahi Tuna Sando was a shade overdone, but good nevertheless. My wife's Turkey Sandwich was average. We let our server know we had an eight pm show, and she paced everything nicely. I would definitely return when we are in town. Two blocks from Radio City Music Hall by the way. Cheers!
April 26 · James WWe started with the fried cauliflower which was an instant favorite, so crispy and flavorful. The calamari was amazing too. The halloumi fries were a bit too sweet for my taste but still interesting. For mains, we had the New York Strip which was a great option but slightly overcooked. I also tried the ELGIN burger and the onion soup burger, both solid choices. The staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and made the whole experience even better. Great vibes, great service. It’s a bit on the expensive side, but great overall
May 18 · Yusuf YassinIf you weren’t sure if you should dine at Elgin, let this be your sign. My husband and I were spending the day in the city to later go to a jazz club to celebrate our anniversary. I searched for weeks to figure out where we should eat prior, and being that we would be in a tourist-y part of Manhattan, I didn’t want anything gimmicky. I looked for a good menu with nice reviews and a cool looking ambiance. This. Place. Is. It!!! The Elgin exceeded my husband and I’s expectations. We sat at the bar, ordered delicious specialty margaritas, which I may add, were perfectly crafted! We ordered the Saigon wings, tuna poke nachos, and we split the burger. All 10/10. Everything was perfectly seasoned and had great flavor. Aside from the food & drinks being fantastic, our bartender, who we later learned was the manager, Conor, will be the reason we continue coming back anytime we’re in the city. He went ABOVE AND BEYOND for us. Great conversation and was incredibly hospitable not even knowing we were there to celebrate an anniversary until later. Conor was engaging and you could tell he was extremely passionate about the restaurant and cocktails, educating us about the liquors and processes of making each drink. When learning it was our anniversary he brought us a dessert and champagne to celebrate. He was incredibly kind — people like Conor are truly the reason I enjoy going out. Good food and drinks are great, but nothing will make me want to come back soon other than people like him! He truly made our experience one of a kind and so memorable. You have to go!!
April 20 · Alicia PealerAte lunch here while in NYC. The decor is beautiful with a cozy feel. There is wood everywhere and a nice bar area. The dining area was kind of small. I was disappointed with the food. The menu looked promising. It might have been my food choices which caused the disappointment. The Bao Buns were tasty. There was a good amount of meat filling. The Elgin salad was not really good. I didn’t care for the combination of items or the dressing. And dessert…why would you add crushed Fruity Pebbles to ice cream sandwiches. This was just wrong and it added nothing to the dish. Will not be visiting again any time soon.
