Tropical Jerk & Seafood Center Introduce
For New Yorkers seeking a true, authentic taste of the Caribbean, Tropical Jerk & Seafood Center in Uniondale, NY, serves as a premier local destination. This established Jamaican restaurant brings the bold, complex flavors of the islands directly to Long Island, making it a beloved spot for both long-time residents and curious food explorers. Located conveniently in Nassau County, it specializes in the staples of Jamaican cuisine, from expertly spiced jerk preparations to satisfying stews and fresh seafood dishes.
Tropical Jerk & Seafood Center is more than just a restaurant; it’s a culinary experience built on tradition. The menu offers a comprehensive selection of dishes for any time of the day. Unlike many eateries that only focus on dinner, this spot is highly popular for a substantial Jamaican breakfast—offering traditional favorites like Ackee & Saltfish Breakfast ($14.00 Medium), Callaloo & Saltfish Breakfast, and Liver Breakfast. Throughout the day, diners can choose from a rich array of main courses, including the intensely flavorful Jerk Chicken and Jerk Pork, the slow-cooked richness of the Oxtail Dinner (Large $26.00), and the savory kick of the Curry Goat Dinner.
The variety of the menu is a significant highlight, ensuring that every patron finds a satisfying meal. Options are categorized into small, medium, and large portions, allowing for flexibility whether you need a quick, affordable bite or a full, generous meal. For seafood enthusiasts, the dedicated section features specialties such as Esco Fry Fish Snapper ($15.00) and the flavorful Brown Stew Snapper Meal ($23.54 Large). The restaurant also provides traditional Jamaican soups, including the hearty COW FOOT SOUP and Red Peas With Chicken Foot Soup, offering a deeply comforting and authentic taste of the Caribbean.
The atmosphere inside is described as both casual and trendy, creating a welcoming yet engaging environment that attracts a diverse crowd, including local college students, locals, and tourists. This setting is ideal for a quick solo meal or a relaxed gathering. However, a common indicator of high demand for fresh food is the note that there is usually a wait, which suggests the meals are prepared with care and are worth the slight delay. Patrons should also be aware that for payment convenience, the restaurant operates as Cash-only, a practice that helps maintain the focus on quality ingredients and preparation.
The flexibility of their service options—delivery, takeout, and dine-in—further cements its role as a vital local food provider. For large events, the robust catering menu, featuring party-sized portions of their signature items like JERK CHICKEN, CURRY CHICKEN, and the unique party favorite, RASTA PASTA ($150.00), is an invaluable resource for local event planning in Nassau County.
While the focus is on quality and flavor, it is worth noting the balanced feedback from customers. Many praise the food, with one reviewer highlighting the perfectly seasoned and non-greasy oxtails and the amazing beef soup sample. Conversely, another review noted a significant inconsistency in the contents of a large cow foot soup, specifically lacking meat. This contrast suggests that while the quality of signature entrees is generally high, patrons should communicate clearly about their order. Despite these isolated reports, the continuous local popularity indicates that the overall experience and quality of the core Jamaican dishes remain a strong draw, particularly given the authentic nature of the cuisine.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1We had oxtails with peas/rice and cabbage. The food was seasoned perfectly and not at all greasy. I also tried the beef soup because they were almost sold out and the sample was amazing! The plate was a nice amount of food also and worth the price.
May 24 · Elite JoshI bought a large cow foot soup and came home and all the soup had in it was four big pieces of bones, one dumplin a piece of yam and three pieces of potato.NOT ONE PIECE OF MEATTropical jerk, you need to do better than this.
November 21 · Sarai IsrealEmployees are very rude. Since they change the employee, the jerk chicken is burnt, the soup taste like water. The chicken isso bitter. There is a indian guy working there that needs to be trained.
March 15 · karen BazileANOTHER JAMAICAN RESTAURANT LOST ITS FLAVORThis was one of the few restaurants I often visited in Hempstead Nassau County. However, it will be my last time until they find the right replacement for their cook, who is no longer with them. The customer service and food are horrible. My last visit two months ago the food was horrible rice everything tasted like it had gone bad. My 13 year old wouldn't eat the food. Today, April 22, 2023, the young lady at the register needs training she's too caught up running her mouth with the cooks and having an opinion of the customer. For twenty minutes, she had me waiting before she took my order. The cooks need to work on their skills because they are serving some raw meat up in there. The food is off tonight and almost 6 to 8 cooks, and the food doesn't taste right. When you tried to say to them privately how it tastes, they wanted to make it public and insultive. Whoever the owner is, if you haven't started losing customers, already start working on your employees' customer relations. Also, a priority is to find the right cooks or those that are there to improve their skill.
April 22 · Erica BenjaminFood was great and staff were super friendly I don’t know how people say they are rude I guess it depends on who there . Big ups to the cooks . I will be coming back 9/10 great job and keep up the wonderful attitudes.
