Up up Introduce
Up up is a celebrated Chinese restaurant located in the heart of Brooklyn's vibrant Sunset Park neighborhood, an area famed for its deep concentration of authentic Asian culinary destinations, particularly those specializing in the distinctive flavors of the Fuzhou region of China. While the restaurant’s name is simple and memorable, its menu is anything but, featuring a complex and comforting array of authentic dishes that draw both local New Yorkers and visitors seeking genuine regional Chinese cuisine.
The restaurant primarily focuses on two major categories that define its culinary identity: delicious, savory Soup Noodles and a wide selection of expertly prepared Braised Meats (Lu Wei). This emphasis on traditional comfort food positions Up up as a must-visit spot for those craving a warm, deeply flavored meal. The establishment serves both lunch and dinner, and is especially popular for solo dining, offering a quick yet satisfying experience that is perfect for busy city life.
Customer reviews are overwhelmingly positive, with particular praise directed towards the soups. Patrons rave about the 'delicious soups,' specifically highlighting a variety of noodle options and a flavorful Miso soup. One review enthusiastically mentions the Mala Tang, which is a customizable spicy and numbing soup, a popular Chinese street food, and notes the ability to select the preferred noodle type alongside four complimentary side dishes—a testament to the restaurant's authentic and customizable approach.
Beyond the food, the dining environment at Up up receives high marks. Customers describe the sit-down area as "very clean," noting that staff diligently wipe tables between visitors. Furthermore, the ability to view the kitchen from the ordering area provides transparency, with one reviewer noting the kitchen "looked clean too," contributing to an overall positive and trustworthy dining experience. This commitment to cleanliness, quality, and traditional flavors makes Up up a stand-out Chinese restaurant on the always-bustling 8th Avenue strip in Brooklyn.
The menu's extensive options showcase a high level of authenticity, featuring ingredients like sea clam, oyster, cuttlefish, beef tendon, and specific meats like duck and mutton, all prepared in classic Fuzhou styles, such as stewed and braised dishes, offering a real taste of home-style Chinese cooking right here in New York City.

July 28 · JenniferVery delicious soups! The miso soup was among my favorite and tasted very delicious.Overall I will say the sit in area to eat was very clean, they wiped tables after costumers and everything you need is neatly packed on the table.Kitchen looked clean too as you can view them cooking from where you order.I genuinely wish I lived near to come often but when I’m in the area I will definitely be dropping by for the soups.
January 28 · Shanti LThey have so many unique snacks here-braised ducks neck, duck wings, chicken feet, pigs feet…perfect for snacking with some beer or wine. It’s mainly a take out place, with a lot of prepared foods in the refrigerator. I like the food and love the selection. Some dishes taste better than others, but it’s just personal preference. I liked the duck wings a lot. The duck neck was a bit dry. The chicken feet was good, but a bit too tough, and rather plain. The pigs feet was good—but really hairy. Overall, I’d come back whenever the craving for duck wings strike.
March 08 · Gloria PellegrinoFirst of all, we came in and said that there were three of us. When we came in, we had already ordered all the meals. I went out to pick up my friend and we came in and asked again. I thought it was to confirm, so I told him again what my friend wanted to eat. But the service attitude of the staff here was super bad. They brought the extra food and forced it on me... They said that the food was already out, and we must eat it. I immediately felt speechless. There was a problem with your ordering service, and I was held responsible. Later, the boss came out and said forget it, and refunded our money! The service attitude really affected my mood. Later, I left without finishing the food! I was in a very bad mood! And there is almost no meat in the flat meat. It may be their specialty, but I don’t think it’s that good!I will never come back to this store again!
July 09 · MAY RENThe food was very good and the service was good but they kept rushing me to order
