★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1THE best vegan restaurant in NYC. Took my entire family here four times during our trip and they loved it too despite them not being vegan.Highly recommend their burger, NYC chopped cheese impossible meat fries, and gyro. All of the food here has spectacular flavor.Service was very quick and they have a small dining area to eat at. The staff is very nice too!Thank you Vegan On the Fly for being the highlight of my trip, I will definitely be back!
August 06 · CWe are always looking for the perfect spot that offers vegan local cuisine... This spot is vegan American fast food, all that we see on the streets being sold with meat, without it! The food was delicious. We ordered a fried chicken burger and a chicken sandwich and they were both full of flavor and yummy. Fries were loaded with vegan cheese and a huge portion we couldn't finish. I don't give it 5 stars because of the lack of a restroom and the lack of space inside that gives you no choice but to eat on a greasy surface sitting on stools. I am aware that this is NYC, so I am not complaining!
July 06 · Elena GrassoExcellent food. Stopped by last night when I was in the area but it was late and they had just closed their dining room. I needed to sit, cool down, rest, and have a nice meal after a long day in the city. We ended up eating across the street. However, I was determined to eat Vegan On the Fly while in town. I wasn't close today and decided to have it delivered to my hotel this evening. I tried to order directly from them but the delivery fees were pretty high. I ordered through Uber Eats and it was about $13 less expensive.I got the falafel gyro with "double meat" and a side of fries. It was pretty pricey but that's how it is around here. The gyro was outstanding, some of the best falafel I've had. It had a little bit of kick to it but my spice tolerance is low. I really enjoyed the sandwich. The fries were getting a little soggy because of the container and delivery but that's unavoidable, no fault of VOTF. Actually the fries were still quite hot by the time they got to me. They were heavy on the salt which I would have rather had less of. I tried to even it out with all the ketchup they gave me.Definitely order the sauce on the side if having delivered. The "double meat" was a good deal for just a couple bucks more. My Uber Eats guy was super friendly and delivered my food quickly.EDIT: So I ordered it again and got the grilled onions and ketchup/mayo for the fries and they were so much better! Get the $1 addon with the fries, worth it.
July 30 · Ryan ReynoldsIt’s a good quick lunch spot if you’re in the area. Good service and grungy(?) back area seating. For a to-go platter, it feels at least $5 too high compared to other quick grab lunch spots.I think likely because of the high prices, it was not terribly busy during office lunch time so maybe that’s good if you’re looking for a seat. Also note they really add a lot of sauce for the platters. It was good all in all and would go back if I’m with vegan people again.
August 20 · AnnaI recently visited Vegan on the Fly and my experience was underwhelming from start to finish. When I first walked in, there was no one at the front to greet me. Instead, there were two self-order kiosks, which felt very impersonal. I walked back toward the register area and stood there for about four minutes without seeing anyone. There were no workers and no food being prepared. Eventually, I noticed someone tucked away and asked if they were open. He said yes, and then a kind woman came out to take my order. Speaking to her face to face felt much better.I decided to try the jerk vegan chicken loaded fries, which I had never heard of before and was excited to taste. The dish was twenty dollars, and I thought it might be worth the price. Unfortunately, it was just okay. The flavor was average, nothing memorable or exciting.I ate in the back area, and while I was finishing up, workers came to take out trash bins, which I did not mind. What made me uncomfortable was when they began removing and stacking the stools around me while I was still seated. It felt unwelcoming, almost as if I was being pushed to leave.Overall, I do not see myself returning. The food and service did not live up to the price or the atmosphere I was hoping for.
