What is worth choosing
For New Yorkers in the Floral Park area and beyond seeking a genuinely casual, local bar experience, Arps Tavern offers specific reasons to visit. Its primary appeal is its strong focus on classic bar entertainment and quality drinks. The combination of "Bar games" and a dedicated sports focus creates a lively, engaging atmosphere that is perfect for both large groups and solo locals. The emphasis on a "Great beer selection" and "Great cocktails" ensures that all drinkers will find something satisfying, distinguishing it from bars with more limited offerings. The "Fast service" is a highly desirable attribute, especially in New York where efficiency is appreciated, ensuring minimal waiting time for drinks. Furthermore, the flexibility of allowing "Outside food" is a significant advantage, giving patrons complete control over their dining choices while they enjoy the tavern's beverages and atmosphere.
However, potential visitors from the diverse New York community must also consider the full context provided by customer feedback. Two separate customer reviews explicitly mention serious issues involving alleged discrimination, racial profiling, and rude behavior by staff, citing instances related to appearance, non-New York State ID acceptance, and derogatory comments. Such accounts represent a significant concern for any establishment aiming to serve a diverse and welcoming community like New York. Prospective patrons should be aware of these negative experiences, which contradict the ideal of a universally welcoming neighborhood spot. While the bar's features—such as its game options and beverage selection—are appealing, any reported instances of unfair or discriminatory treatment are crucial factors to weigh when deciding where to spend one's time and money. It is advisable for New York residents to exercise discretion and compare Arps Tavern with other local alternatives that have consistently demonstrated respect and decency toward all customers, such as Bar J Fallon’s Tap Room, which was highly recommended by the dissatisfied reviewers.
For those who prioritize entertainment, drink quality, and the ability to bring their own food, Arps Tavern has the features. For those who prioritize a welcoming, respectful, and non-discriminatory environment above all else, the serious allegations raised in the public reviews present a compelling case for exploring other local options. The establishment's cash-only policy is also a functional detail that should not be overlooked.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I went to this bar on Friday the 6th at 9 pm hoping to have a good time with my husband, but unfortunately I was discriminated against by the staff. They treated me with disrespect because of my appearance, which many say I have Hispanic features. They thought I didn’t speak English, a big mistake. I understood all of the staff’s derogatory comments toward me. I’ve lived in Floral Park for 30 years and worked in this same district. There was no justification for this behavior. It’s unacceptable for a business in Floral Park to act this way. I do not recommend this place and hope they take serious action regarding this. I 100% recommend Bar J Fallon’s Tap Room 👍
June 07 · Mary Rosas🚫⭐️ 0 Stars!!I had a very upsetting experience at Arps Tavern in Floral Park that left me feeling racially profiled. My partner and I were denied entry because his ID wasn’t from New York. We were told this was due to a “new law”—but when I later spoke with a girl in the bathroom line who had an Indiana ID, she told me she had no issue getting in at all.I’ve lived in Floral Park for many years and have never felt discriminated against—until now. The way we were treated felt targeted and unfair. On top of that, the staff was rude and dismissive, offering no real explanation for the inconsistency. If you want a welcoming and respectful place to enjoy your night, do yourself a favor and skip Arps Tavern. Head to J. Fallon’s Tap Room instead—they treat people with decency!
June 07 · Karla SabrozoExtremely disappointed and disturbed by what happened to my sister and her boyfriend at Arp’s Tavern. He was denied entry after presenting a valid New Jersey ID, and was told there’s a “new law” in New York that doesn’t allow out-of-state IDs — which is completely false. To make matters worse, another patron with an out-of-state ID was allowed in shortly after. The only visible difference? My sister’s boyfriend is Asian. This felt like blatant racial profiling, and it’s unacceptable in any establishment, especially one that serves the public. Discriminating under the guise of “policy” is not only unethical — it’s dangerous. Do better.
June 07 · Wendolyne SabrozoI would give this place 0 stars if i could. went in i am over 21 and they decided one night i can’t come in because i’m not 25 and over. been here a ton of times that was never an issue. ontop of that the guy was extremely rude and AGGRESSIVELY threw back my REAL AND LEGAL NYS LICENSE!!! i was considering calling the police for verbal aggression. don’t appreciate the rudeness and being kind is free. i will never recommend this place to anyone else ever again and never come back to that hell hole- which by the way i’ve seen underaged kids in there so i don’t know why being over 25 is an issue now.
May 23 · Victoria RagusaWell since everybody saw my first post that I deleted. On Saturday night once again an unruly customer that I have been forced to leave 10 times due to staff meaning managers and bartenders not doing their jobs no matter what he does or certain regulars he and they can do whatever want. I was than after I left came back for my phone. Where 3 hours earlier I helped an overserved customer find his phone and get home safe. When I came back I was called a territorist and was physically threatened by a bouncer. Me the son of a cop who died in the line of duty in NYPD. I am just as much a part of that place too, I helped win championship for arps on dart team. Now at what point after all these issues everybody says it's me. Well if the staff was qualified and we're doing there jobs like cutting customers off, making them leave so won't be problems no regular customers have to deal with these things themselves. I brought all these issues up with management and was told I'm the problem. Well u wouldn't deal with the problems now maybe some thing will be done about it. So if u ever go in there and a guy Billy Big Head is there u should just leave cause the manager has made it clear certain people can get as drunk as they want and never be given time off.
