Bonanza's Introduce
For generations of New Yorkers, Bonanza's in Oyster Bay, Long Island, is more than just a fast food restaurant—it is a beloved piece of local history and a timeless summer tradition. Established in 1897, this iconic, family-run establishment has evolved from a simple pushcart selling homemade lemon ice into a cherished snack hut, now famous for its classic American fare alongside its heritage Italian ices. It masterfully combines the charm of an "old school snack hut" with the efficiency of modern quick-service dining.
Located in the quaint, picturesque town of Oyster Bay, Bonanza's serves as the perfect casual destination for a quick lunch, a satisfying dinner, or a delightful dessert outing. It is officially classified as a fast food restaurant, dessert shop, family restaurant, hot dog stand, ice cream shop, and takeout restaurant, underscoring its broad appeal. Patrons of all ages, from solo diners to entire families, frequent the location for its quality offerings and nostalgic atmosphere.
What truly sets Bonanza's apart for local users is its dedication to tradition and community. The business has been proudly run by the Bonanza family across four generations. While they are celebrated for their classic hot dogs and signature loaded fries, the heart of the business remains its spectacular array of Italian ices, a tradition that dates back over 127 years. The atmosphere is refreshingly casual and trendy, while remaining deeply family-friendly and welcoming to all, including being explicitly LGBTQ+ friendly and allowing dogs in the outside seating area.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1This a very cute old school snack hut. We only tried the ice-cream which was good. Unfortunately we didn't try any of their other items. I'm told the Italian ices are very good. This place has been around forever and is located in the very quaint town of Oyster Bay. There is some outdoor seating in the back, or just have a walk with your treats. This is great spot for kids, or a desert on date night. We have to go back.
August 15 · JCayman (Jcayman)Highly recommend the battered fried onion rings! The large size isn’t that large though.Hot dog was solid, I topped it with the sauces. The blue raspberry Italian ice was delicious.Lots of seating in their backyard, but a lot of people took food to go.
July 13 · Heidi LiouThis is definitely a place to try! No matter where you travel from it is worth the ride. No waiting in long lines, they move them fast. Orders ready fast! Their homemade Italian Ices are the best. My absolute favorite is Lemon!! One bite and you are hooked for life! It is so refreshing especially during this crazy heat!!
July 20 · Lorraine MacholzBonanza has been around since 1897 so I was excited to try it. Overall, good dogs but they're pretty basic and it doesn't seem like they're doing anything truly unique or special. Either way a place with that much history should definitely be eaten at.
June 09 · M BBonanza’s Stand is a hidden gem in Oyster Bay, they serve Hot dogs and Italian ice for over a decade. We had their hot dogs, onion rings, chicken wings and small Italian ice. It was overall decent with reasonable price.Their signature Italian ice and we had Lemon & Peanut Butter to share. It’s really refreshing with delicate texture.
