What is Worth Choosing
If you are new to Breakfast by Salt's Cure, or simply looking for the best return on your appetite, the choice is clear and overwhelmingly recommended by the community: the Oatmeal Griddle Cakes.
The OG Griddle Cake ($10.00) is the foundational experience and an absolute must-order. Its unique composition and preparation—made with oats and cooked to achieve a perfect balance of a fluffy center and a lacy, crispy exterior, served with house-made cinnamon-molasses butter—is what makes this place a New York destination. The Chocolate Chip ($12.00) and Banana Walnut ($12.00) variations are also highly praised for their depth of flavor and quality ingredients, making them excellent choices once you’ve tried the original.
For a more complete breakfast, pairing the griddle cakes with a savory side is a popular choice among patrons, offering a salty-sweet contrast. The House Ground Sausage ($6.00) is a standout, often cited for its high quality, as is the simple but perfectly prepared Farm Fresh Eggs ($5.50). If you need something quick, the Sausage, Egg & Cheese Sandwich ($12.00) is a reliable, comforting bite that utilizes their fantastic ingredients. Don't forget to grab a cup of the highly-rated House Brewed Coffee ($5.00) or a refreshing Fresh Squeezed Oj/Gf ($5.00) to complete your meal.
As reviewers note, while the savory dishes are good, the main attraction remains the pancakes. The menu is intentionally brief, but every item supports the main star. The griddle cakes are considered worth the line by many, though a mid-week visit will help you skip the longer weekend waits.
In a city that loves a hearty and high-quality breakfast, Breakfast by Salt's Cure delivers on its promise of an exceptional meal. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1the star of the show is really their pancakes, and they’re really well priced. i got the chocolate griddle pancakes and they were so delicious. although it’s not my favorite style of pancakes, it was still so, so tasty. however, i would not wait over 45min in line for them.on the other hand, the other menu items didn’t shine as much. the savory dishes lacked flavor. i also wish the menu had more variety.
May 15 · jasmine riceExcellent pancakes! I’m so glad I stopped here. The pancakes were perfect, and had that lovely griddle-y flavor. The hash brown was alright - they may want to go easy on the ketchup (or make it optional). Overall I loved it, but would have been nice to have something lighter, like a fruit on the side.
August 15 · Riddhi JhunjhunwalaPink lady apple pancakes were delicious but not for everyone, my friend did not like the mushiness and texture of the oats.Coffee wasn’t great. Eggs were good, hash brown was fine - think 1 is enough for 2 people.Service was ok, cashier seemed impatient even though there was barely any line since they had just opened.Came here 10 minutes before opening on a weekday, small crowd.
April 22 · MaggieThis is another breakfast spot that I discovered on Instagram that I wanted to check out.Breakfast by Salt's Cure is such a cute place with a nice ambiance. They have a limited menu, but the prices are very reasonable. I ordered the Banana Walnut Griddle Cakes with a side of the housemade Chicken Sausage, and everything was really good. I didn't have much of a wait time where everything came out fast and fresh. The staff here is friendly and the place is kept clean. They offer indoor and some outdoor dining, but it doesn't look like they could handle large crowds. My suggestion is to go early to get a table. I was thinking parking would be a nightmare in this area, but I found some spaces easy right near the restaurant, so major plus there.I really liked this place and their very interesting take on oatmeal pancakes. I will definitely stop in again the next time I am in the area.
June 29 · Lisa SBlueberry pancakes were really good: I eat my fair share of pancakes so can safely say these are worth the hype. Good indoor & outdoor seating; friendly service; nice space. Great brunch place to bring friends visiting NYC !
