Brooklyn Stillhouse Introduce
Introduction / Overview
For New York City residents seeking an authentic, high-quality drinking experience that goes well beyond the average bar, **Brooklyn Stillhouse** in Red Hook is an absolute must-visit. Functioning uniquely as both a full-service **Bar** and a working **Distillery**, this establishment offers patrons a firsthand connection to the spirits they enjoy, right here in Brooklyn. It’s not just a place to grab a drink; it's a destination where craft and hospitality seamlessly intersect.
The consensus among local patrons is clear: this place is a genuine **gem**. It’s revered for its signature approach to making its own spirits, which include a wide array of house-made products such as **Rye, Bourbon, Rum, Moonshine, and American** whiskey. This dedication to craft allows the Stillhouse to pour truly exceptional and unique drinks, highlighted by the fact that one customer declared the **gin** to be "one of the best I’ve tasted in a long time."
The atmosphere complements the quality of the drinks. Patrons consistently praise the "chill vibe" and the exceptional staff, with one review noting that the bartenders "make you feel at home." This welcoming environment, combined with the serious approach to mixology—offering classics like the **Dark & Stormy** and seasonal favorites like the **Spiced Hot Toddy**—makes Brooklyn Stillhouse an essential stop in the 11231 area for locals who appreciate genuine craftsmanship and community spirit. The offering is pure **Alcohol**, refined by the passion of the distillery itself.
Location and Accessibility
Brooklyn Stillhouse is uniquely located at **6 Bay St 1st Floor, Brooklyn, NY 11231, USA**. This address places it firmly in the atmospheric, historically industrial neighborhood of Red Hook, a destination known for its waterfront views, artistic energy, and unique commercial properties. Red Hook’s distinct character often provides a welcome escape from the intense density of Manhattan or other parts of Brooklyn, offering a cool, relaxed backdrop for enjoying expertly crafted spirits.
The specific address on Bay Street, situated on the **1st Floor**, suggests a ground-level presence that is often easier to access than basement or upper-floor bars. While the available public data does not specify features like a wheelchair ramp or accessible parking, its location within an industrial-style building is part of its overall unique aesthetic, which locals often appreciate as part of the Red Hook experience. Patrons should plan their transit accordingly, but the destination itself is well worth the effort. The distinct, destination-worthy neighborhood of Red Hook means visitors are seeking out a genuine experience, which the Stillhouse delivers.
Finding this kind of unique, localized craftsmanship is what New Yorkers value most, and the Brooklyn Stillhouse's location provides the perfect off-the-beaten-path reward. Given the general lack of public transit directly into Red Hook, the experience relies more on personal or ride-share transport, underscoring its status as a deliberate choice for those prioritizing quality and a chill, destination-focused vibe.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1This place is a gem. The bartenders make you feel at home. The drinks are amazing. The gin is one of the best I’ve tasted in a long time. BBQ Thursdays are delicious and Chicago dogs Saturday Sunday are Yummy.
June 20 · Luis LaboyWe’ve come here twice so far and have loved it both times! The cocktails are delicious, the people working the tasting room are super friendly (shoutout to Brooks and Jonathan!), and it overall has a chill vibe. Definitely make sure to do a tour if you can, too!
June 19 · Melissa GaynorHidden little distillery. All the furniture in their taproom looks like it's been recycled and handmade. The tour was short and sweet with 4 small tastings. I don't think the tastings even summed up to one shot so you definitely won't get drunk (unlike NY Distilling Co). The bottle prices were pretty steep and since none of the whiskies we tried really stood out, we didn't bring anything home.
July 03 · Michelle WongUpon visiting, so sad to learn that Van Brunt was sold - however, the tasting room is still open under Brooklyn Gin, and as of today, they are still selling Van Brunt. The bartender was wonderful (and the gin very good!) so we would still absolutely recommend visiting the tasting room!
November 30 · Jordan AyersVan Brunt Stillhouse is a phenomenal small batch distillery in Brooklyn. They have a cozy, rustic tasting room where you can get a sampler flight of their excellent whiskeys, or if you're feeling fancy even grab a cocktail. The staff are super friendly and knowledgeable too.
