What is Worth Choosing
When visiting Chef Papa Vietnamese Kitchen, the selection of authentic dishes offers something for every palate. Drawing on customer highlights and signature menu items, there are a few standouts that new and returning patrons should consider.
The star of the show for many is the Pho, the quintessential Vietnamese noodle soup. The Signature Pho is a classic choice, featuring a rich beef broth with rare eye round beef, brisket, tendon, and beef ball. However, for a truly special experience, the Short-Rib Pho is a menu highlight often raved about. This features tender, sliced short rib off the bone swimming in the deeply flavorful beef pho broth. This variation provides a decadent, fall-off-the-bone tender protein that elevates the traditional pho experience. Another popular option for those seeking a richer, spicier bowl is the Bun Bo Hue, a spicy beef broth noodle soup with shrimp paste, brisket, Vietnamese pork ham, and pork knuckles.
Beyond the comforting bowls of pho, the Banh Mi is a must-try. Customers consistently praise the Classic Banh Mi for its combination of grilled minced pork, pork belly, Vietnamese ham, and creamy pate, all served on a perfectly light and airy French baguette that provides the crucial crispy exterior and soft interior. The balance of fresh vegetables, savory meats, and rich pate makes it a top-tier Vietnamese sandwich in Queens.
For appetizers, do not overlook the celebrated sides. The Leek Veg Pancakes are a crispy and unique starter, often described as a savory and satisfying snack. Also highly recommended are the fresh Summer Rolls (available with shrimp or tofu), noted for their freshness and served with a delicious peanut sauce. The Grilled Pork Chop over Rice with a fried egg and fish sauce is another frequently praised entree, known for its mouthwatering signature marinated pork chop.
While some reviews mention that the lemongrass chicken and BBQ pork can lean toward a sweeter, "teriyaki" flavor profile, the overwhelming consensus points to the superior quality of their core offerings—the pho, banh mi, and signature appetizers—and the exceptional warmth of the staff. The combination of high-quality ingredients, authentic preparation, and a friendly, prompt service team makes Chef Papa Vietnamese Kitchen a premier choice for Vietnamese food in New York. The restaurant excels at providing a consistently delightful experience, from a quick Truffle Fry appetizer to a full bowl of the famous Short-Rib Pho.
In a neighborhood known for its vast array of dining choices, Chef Papa Vietnamese Kitchen provides a refreshing, authentic, and cozy option for those seeking the complex, fresh, and deeply satisfying flavors of Vietnam. It is a genuine local treasure that New Yorkers looking for a great meal should certainly add to their list.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Have eaten here several times within the last two years. Everything on the menu is authentic. The pho broth is clean and meat is delicious- my favorite is short-rib pho. The summer rolls are fresh. I prefer them with tofu, but the shrimp is tasty as well. Banh mi sandwich is amazing with fresh vegetables, pork and creamy pate. The bread itself is light and airy. Grilled pork chop with vegetables and fish sauce is mouthwatering...and their leek pancakes are bomb. Also, the customer service is genuine and attentive...the staff really is so kind.

September 20 · Albert HasanMy Thai iced tea was very good. I was a fan of the house special bahn mi than the pork chop bahn mi but the vegetables were a bit more on the sweeter side. Too sweet for me. Service was great, super friendly.
May 09 · Kenia MartinezReally good pho, the broth was excellent 👌, , place was full when I arrived but it's very small only maybe 10 tables so expect to wait to be seated, I waited 3 min but I was also solo, very quick service, they need you to eat and free up the table, it's constantly full, expensive and only one small size for the beef pho but definitely worth trying, I got the bone marrow on the side and it's definitely not worth the price but tastes great! All said it's still 5 stars it's NY just like SF where they have super limited seating, id say I'm coming back but I live in the west so thank you chef Papa for the great meal.
July 13 · Jeff SBeen going here regularly the past year for good Pho noodles. I’ve tried their Bahn mi as well and they were also really good, something I’d definitely order again. Their leek appetizer is also very chewy and savory.
