## What is Worth Choosing
For New Yorkers looking for an exceptional sushi experience without the steep prices of a high-end omakase counter, Douska is a superb choice. What is most worth choosing about this restaurant is its dedication to simplicity and quality. The focus on fresh ingredients is evident in every bite, from the Spicy Tuna Avocado Roll to the I Love New York Roll, both of which have received rave reviews for their freshness and flavor. The fact that the fish is "super fresh" and "made to order" is a significant draw, a key quality that separates good sushi from great sushi. This commitment to freshness is what makes Douska a true standout in a crowded market.
The hand roll experience is another major reason to choose Douska. Unlike many places that pre-make their rolls, Douska's hand rolls are served immediately by the chef to ensure the nori remains crispy. This attention to detail demonstrates a deep respect for the craft of sushi-making. The Temaki Platter, which allows you to build your own hand rolls, is a fun and interactive option that is particularly great for groups. The affordability of the omakase options is also a huge plus, providing an accessible way to experience a chef's curated menu of high-quality sushi. It offers a taste of a luxury dining experience at a much more reasonable price point, a significant benefit for anyone in the city.
Ultimately, Douska is worth choosing for its perfect blend of quality, value, and atmosphere. It's a place that is unpretentious and focused on delivering a truly delicious product. The combination of fresh, flavorful fish, a wide range of menu options, and a cozy environment makes it a reliable and enjoyable destination for any sushi craving. August 14 · Zoe ArztSuch an underrated great local spot. We had an amazing meal here that was very reasonably priced for high quality sushi. Will be going back many times!
August 04 · Rennie WinogradThe omakase was INCREDIBLE. I highly recommend sitting at the bar so you can get a view of the sushi making!! Amazing chefs, amazing service. Great quality for a good price. Don’t skip out on dessert- get the salted caramel mochi 😍 will definitely be coming back!!
January 26 · MollyWhat a great find. Luke was our server. He had tables inside and outside the restaurant including the bar area. He was attentive and fantastic. The sushi chefs were amazing as they continuously worked patiently and gracefully without skipping a beat throughout the evening. The sushi was delicious and the sake we ordered, Brooklyn Kura paired so elegantly with every dish. The restaurant is located on busy Delancey Street, but well worth the experience.
June 01 · MimiIt was my first time having an omakase and I’m happy I had it at Douska. Even though it’s a cheap omakase the service is at another level. If it’s crowded it may take a while for your order to be delivered but it’s quite efficient. The food is amazing, tastes really good and it’s quite fresh.
