El Troncaleño is an excellent choice for New York area locals, particularly those in Westchester, who are seeking genuine Ecuadorian flavors in a setting that balances comfort and efficiency. It is worth choosing for several compelling reasons, though patrons should approach with awareness of existing customer feedback.
Firstly, the restaurant provides a rare and authentic taste of South American **Comfort food**. The availability of everyday quick-service snacks like **Empanadas De Queso** ($1.50) and filling options like **Salchipapa** (Small $6.00 / Large $12.00) ensures a quick, affordable, and satisfying meal is always on offer. This is an ideal spot for a mid-week **Quick bite** or a hearty **Breakfast** with their excellent, highlighted **Great coffee**.
Secondly, the weekend menu is a must-try for food enthusiasts. Dishes like the **Ceviche De Camaron** and the various traditional Ecuadorian stews and soups available only on Saturdays and Sundays provide a rich cultural experience that differentiates the restaurant from general Latin American fare. This weekend focus makes it a destination for those seeking specialized regional cuisine.
However, it is vital for New York users to note the concerns raised in recent customer reviews regarding the service and pricing structure, particularly concerning charges for side orders (such as an extra boiled egg) and alleged issues with billing, including unauthorized tipping and overcharging. While the menu shows competitive base prices for items like the **Batidos** ($5.00) and snacks, customers should exercise caution, always clarify the final cost of their meal, especially when ordering modifications or sides, and carefully review their payment card statements to ensure accuracy. Despite these reported service issues, the quality of the traditional **Offerings** and the **Fast service** make it a worthwhile establishment to visit, provided customers are diligent in their transactions.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I just got to know this place, but I'm actually very disappointed with the service and the prices surprise you when you're going to pay, for having ordered an extra boiled egg in a lunch they almost want to charge half a lunch more. I asked why I was doing that and they only told me that those are orders from the restaurant owner. I won't come back anymore...
April 08 · Manolo Idrovo BarzalloDO NOT COME TO THIS RESTAURANT.! THEY OVER CHARGED MY CARD AND ADDED A TIP TO THE TAB AND THEY CHARGE FOR EVERY SIDE ORDER LIKE ITS HALF A LUNH.!!!! I REPEAT DO NOT PURCHASE FROM HERE.! ILL BE CALLING MY BANK.
September 14 · Kay Lovex3Very delicious food. Will not be disappointed
October 29 · Gengar AyestaI visited the restaurant on Sunday and the food was very delicious and the service was excellent, and the prices were affordable. I don't agree at all with what Mrs. Kay Lovex3 said because I was there and she ordered many extra things, drinks, and ate all the food. It's a lie that they add tips to the card. That's up to each person. Leave tips. Be careful, if you pay with a card, you obviously have to pay taxes.
September 15 · Katerine PaucarVery good, fresh food, and reasonable prices.
