What is worth choosing
The Five Borough Food Hall offers several compelling reasons why it should be your choice for dining in the Queens area. Firstly, the unbeatable variety of the menu is the hall’s strongest asset. Where else can you find a hearty Reuben Sandwich, a healthy Kale Chicken Caesar Salad, a savory Greek Lamb Trashpack, and a dedicated Kosher option all under one roof? This diversity is perfect for satisfying multiple cravings or accommodating a group with varying dietary needs. The robust selection of alcoholic beverages, particularly the specialty cocktails like the Elderflower Fizz or Old Fashioned, also makes it an excellent choice for a casual, relaxing evening meal or gathering, elevating the experience beyond that of a typical, simple lunch counter.
Secondly, the combination of convenience and accessibility is crucial in a city like New York. The wheelchair accessibility features are a vital consideration that makes the hall inclusive for the entire community.
However, while the menu promises great variety, potential patrons should be aware that the overall quality and consistency of the service and food flavor can occasionally be a point of caution, based on some public feedback. Some reviews mention issues such as food being bland and potential inconsistencies with advertised pricing or the availability of human staff for assistance. This is a common challenge for large-scale, high-volume dining establishments. While many customers appreciate the food's freshness and the attractive setup, it is wise to be mindful of these reported service-related issues, particularly regarding self-service checkouts and pricing accuracy, during peak times.
Ultimately, the Five Borough Food Hall should be chosen for its sheer, unparalleled culinary range and its ability to offer a quick, convenient, and feature-rich dining option in the heart of Astoria, Queens. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I’m actually laughing at how flavourless the burrito is. My husband had a chicken burrito and I had a veggie one - and we couldn’t get over how bland it was. I was grateful every third bite when I got a hint of onion - but other than that I literally couldn’t taste anything. Even from a profit making perspective for them, I don’t get it - spices and herbs are so cheap why wouldn’t you throw a few in? 2 stars because it was hot, fresh and technically edible - but please add some flavour next time!
September 22 · Ella HarveyI've eaten here a few times, usually sushi. For being in an airport, it's decent, I'll give them that. Never got sick or anything like that. That said, there are two problems with them: 1-- they routinely do not charge the prices listed on their products, and not just by a few cents; they're off by DOLLARS. Absolutely not okay under any circumstances. And that leads me to #2 -- there is almost never a human cashier at the designated station to correct the issue. And that leads to two more problems: you won't be paying cash (so tough 💩 if you planned to), and a bunch of their products do not scan on the self service station at all meaning you cannot even buy them.Pros: decent food, cute setup.Cons:1: prices are often off by 20%+2: almost never any human cashiers to fix it.3: no paying cash for purchases (b/c no cashiers)4: many of their products don't scan at ALL at self checkout, so you can't buy them. This concourse has a bazillion options. As an employee, I needed to stick close to my workstation and that's why I came here. As a passenger, y'all, KEEP WALKING. You're in a concourse with a literal Victoria's Secret store; there are plenty of other places to eat where the price you see is the price you actually pay.
August 26 · L. KingIt’s not beautiful but it was super fast! Ready in 90 seconds. The guest in front of us had a hard time using the kiosk to order and the woman working alone came out to help him. He yelled at her and was rude as anything because he didn’t know what he was doing, literally screaming in her face and she was STILL SO POLITE BACK TO HIM! Rushed his food out to him. 5 stars for that. It was $13 for a breakfast sandwich but it was enough for us to split and it has cute little grill marks on it. Two egg patties inside and a ton of bacon. I wished it had more cheese but they had hot sauce and everything there so it was fine. Super quick and easy with a great woman working the stand who is super tolerant.
October 11 · Nicole B GarciaNext time I’d rather fly hungry. $32 (after tax) for a MINI (literally a mini container) “Greek salad” with “gyro meat”. Wilted lettuce and a mini scoop of tomato, cucumber and feta with a few micro slices of paper thin pale gyro meat. Despicable.
July 04 · Alva MendezThis was my first experience at the JFK Airport in New York. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the Green Goddess restaurant in the food court. While this place has great potential, the food itself misses the mark. The chicken and the chickpeas in the Mediterranean Salad was disappointing and disgusting. These were the main aspects of the salad I was looking for when searching for healthy options in the airport with a relatively decent amount of protein. I liked the Greek dressing and the vegetables that were added, but all together this was a pass. The customer service was okay but could have been better. I like that I could order and pay through the kiosk to streamline the process. However, the employee behind the glass seemed pissed off and unhappy to be there.Overal, I'm disappointed and would not reccomended.
