The atmosphere is best described as cozy and trendy, a perfect blend of a relaxed neighborhood joint and a stylish urban bar. It's the kind of place you can duck into for a quick drink, stay for a full dinner, or stop by for a late-night bite.

The staff is consistently described as quick and efficient, though some may find them less attentive than desired. Overall, Goodnight Sonny is a place that promises and often delivers a lively and delicious night out in the East Village.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1The food and drinks here are genuinely delicious. The service was quick and efficient I love the late night vibe of this place definitely will be back.
June 04 · Mariah NelsonVery bad serving. So tiny place which is okay but servers need to be more careful. Cocktails are not good. Only good one was blue east oysters.
August 12 · Bengüsu ARSLANLocated in East Village, this bar offers bites as well as a variety of seafood. My friend was craving oysters, so we had to check out their HH! The interior of the restaurant is spacious, there's lots of outdoor seating, and they have nice and elaborate decor. The staff here is so easy to talk to and fun!We got their oysters and they were given with a cocktail sauce and vinegar. My friend LOVED them. They were fresh and they also had oysters from different places/variety. Would recommend if you wanted a drink or to check out their raw bar!
July 18 · Mia HuynhThe Happy Hour Oyster special: 12/$18 was fantastic! The oysters were well shucked, cold, fresh and came with a classic mignonette and a cocktail sauce with a little twist to it.The shrimp cocktail were big, beautifully cooked, tasty shrimp- not over cooked, just right. The whipped codfish brandade dip with pumpernickel toast was awesome! It was creamy, smooth, and not salty. The clams casino were seasoned well and delicious! I wanted to order more of everything. The clams in sauce were also delicious but not as good as the other items we ordered (to me).My absolute favorite thing was the bread pudding with brown butter pecans and that sauce with a hint of orange- wow!! I rarely think dessert at restaurants is worth going back for, but that bread pudding will be drawing me back sooner than later. It’s not often my husband and I love the same dessert… this bread pudding was right up there with Grace Street’s Basque Cheesecake. Bravo Chef, Bravo! The waitstaff were very friendly and attentive. The vibe was great, the tables/seating were comfortable and spaced out. The music was excellent but maybe a tad loud. Like others have noted, the acoustics aren’t great when the place gets packed, especially with the music up a tad too high.Overall, a great place to catch up with friends and grab a tasty bite. Don’t forget to take advantage of their Happy Hour!Looking forward to going back again soon.
January 02 · April PlattsWe stopped by on a Wednesday evening before heading to dinner, to grab some cocktails. They were busy, but not packed so we were able to get a table and sit for around an hour. We ordered one round of cocktails. I had the pretty in pink, which was sweet. Pretty good, sugary taste, not too alcohol forward which is what my wife was looking for (we shared).Quite pricey but seems to be expected in Manhattan. The bar had a really nice vibe, not too loud, but lively. Nice lighting and clean.
