John's Fried Chicken Introduce
John’s Fried Chicken stands out in the bustling New York fast-food scene, particularly within the vibrant Upper Manhattan community. More than just a chicken restaurant, this local establishment masterfully blends the convenience and craveability of fast food with the rich, authentic flavors of a Dominican restaurant. This popular spot has carved out a dedicated following, recognized for its commitment to serving generous portions of comfort food. While the name suggests a focus on the classic American favorite, its true appeal lies in the expansive menu that features Dominican staples alongside its renowned fried chicken. From stew chicken and pepper steak to the essential roast pork (Pernil) and fried crispy pork (Chicharron), the menu is a celebration of Caribbean culinary traditions, offering a quick and casual way to enjoy these hearty, flavorful dishes. It’s a place where you can grab a quick lunch, enjoy a satisfying family dinner, or satisfy those inevitable late-night cravings.

When visiting John’s Fried Chicken, the decision often comes down to two categories: their famed fried chicken or their authentic Dominican offerings. What truly makes this restaurant a local gem is the fusion of these options and the overall value provided to the customer.
First and foremost, the Fried Chicken is a must-try. According to glowing local reviews, the fried chicken is frequently described as "unbelievable," with the batter bursting with savory flavors that practically melt in your mouth. One reviewer even noted its local prestige, claiming it was "Voted #1 by the Daily News." The combo options are excellent for value, with choices ranging from the 3 Pieces to the larger 26 Pieces, all served with a generous portion of French Fries. The portion sizes across the board are often praised, offering a nice size plate for a competitive price point in New York City. While some patrons have noted that certain meat dishes can occasionally be unflavored, the overwhelming sentiment points to the quality and savory profile of the main fried chicken offering.
Beyond the chicken, diving into the Dominican Sides is essential for a complete experience. Skip the ordinary and sample the cultural staples: the sweetness of the Fried Sweet Plantains (Maduros), the savory, starchy texture of Cassaba (Yuca), or the traditional pairing of White Rice and Beans. These sides elevate the meal from simple fast food to a genuine Dominican meal.
For a main course that’s not chicken, the Roast Pork (Pernil) and the Fried Crispy Pork (Chicharron) are authentic, hearty options well worth exploring. Pair any of these with a signature Natural Juice—especially the unique Morir Sonando Juice—and finish the meal with a classic dessert like Flan or 3 Milks Cake. The combination of speed, value, and authentic flavor is why many local patrons proclaim they "won't return to Popeyes, Kennedy or KFC" after experiencing what John's Fried Chicken has to offer. It’s the ultimate quick and satisfying culinary stop in New York.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Food here is just basic. I was a little disappointed being that this is a fried chicken spot?? & the chicken was unflavored. The pernil was unflavored as well, which left baffled being that the location of the establishment is in Dykman??? You do get a nice size plate just add salt
August 12 · E TuckerIf you like chicken with dark meat (legs and thighs only), you will adore this urbane cafeteria. The fried chicken is unbelievable. Voted #1 by the Daily News. Batter bursts with savory flavors and practically melts in your mouth. Most of their sides are native Dominican dishes. If you are ever in the area and need a fast bite, then look no further. After our visit, we most likely won't return to Popeyes, Kennedy or KFC.

May 03 · Noel CruzI truly enjoy John's Fried Chicken. Its moist, greasy, and marinated in God knows what, and I like it. Taste is subjective, especially in the fried chicken realm...perhaps you won't be as thrilled. The experience won't set you back much either way. John's is cheap. There's also a staggering variety of Dominican inspired items in a steam table towards the rear that includes various rice dishes, roast chicken, pernil, spaghetti, vegggies etc... I often order yellow rice with my fried chicken. Its a little gritty inside and there are only a handful of tables, so plan on taking your bird to go.
January 16 · Cole ThompsonJohn’s Fried Chicken has been our go to spot for over a decade, and has yet disappoint my family and I. The golden brown crisp in their fried chicken, is a one of a kind taste. Don’t ever share that recipe 😩😩… we order from JFC at least 2x a week and it makes us so happy to know they deliver to Our Loaction. Moises and his team go above and beyond communicating with their customers about their grub hub deliveries and the food is always hot. Thank you all for keeping the business up and running all these years. We regulars appreciate you. Sincerely Jackie Guzman & Family
