Lady Wong Patisserie (Urban Hawker – Midtown) Introduce
In the heart of Midtown, where the culinary world converges, a true gem for dessert lovers can be found within the bustling Urban Hawker food hall. Lady Wong Patisserie is not just another pastry shop; it is a meticulously crafted showcase of Southeast Asian-inspired delights, created by a husband-and-wife duo with a background in five-star hotels and Michelin-starred restaurants. This establishment brings the vibrant, authentic flavors of Malaysia and Singapore to New York City, filling a niche with its unique and delicious offerings that seamlessly blend traditional techniques with French pastry artistry.
Lady Wong was born out of a passion for traditional sweets and a longing for the flavors of home during the pandemic. Founders Seleste Tan and Mogan Anthony, both Malaysian natives, channeled their homesickness into creating a business that would introduce New Yorkers to the beauty of Southeast Asian pastries, or "kuih." Their desserts are not the overly sweet, chocolate-heavy bombs often found elsewhere. Instead, they are celebrated for their delicate textures, balanced sweetness, and use of unique ingredients like pandan, ube, and black sesame. The result is a collection of treats that are as visually stunning as they are delicious.
The experience at Lady Wong is one of discovery. Whether you're a connoisseur of Asian desserts or a newcomer, you’ll be captivated by the array of colorful and artfully arranged treats in their display cases, which have been compared to jewels in a fine jewelry store. From fluffy cakes to sticky rice pastries and savory puffs, every item tells a story of cultural heritage and culinary expertise. The positive feedback from customers who rave about the cakes being "moist and not too sweet" and the pastries being "fantastic" and "well worth the price" speaks volumes about the quality and care that goes into every single creation.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Fantastic pastries and cakes! Well worth the price you pay. We ordered the strawberry guava entremet cake for my husbands birthday and it was a hit! Also got some of the other mochi pastries to-go and loved it. Packaged really well. Will come back again.
August 09 · Donna SSuggestion: pandan panna cotta, kuih tier, strawberry shortcakeIt’s well worth the price you pay. The cakes are moist and not too sweet. Would definitely go again. Best product in my opinion is kuih tier
August 31 · Alex PIt is inside a food court. Really enjoyed all the adventurous flavors and the fact that it’s not too sweet! We got Sticky Mango Rice, Black Sesame Mousse, and La Islahan. Everything was fantastic!
May 31 · Anastassiya PetrovaGreat place for desserts! The guava cake is very good. Everything else we tried was great. Not overloaded with sugar, either. Very well made!
July 02 · Fabiano AzevedoI found Lady Wong on my walk back from lunch and I tried a number of things...the only thing I really hated, is that I didn't try EVERYTHING! These southeast asian desserts are some of the best I've ever had. The Black Sesame passion fruit pastry was my favorite but the Lemon Mango Sticky rice treat was a close second. I had a few of the pandan cakes as well and finally the Matcha Mille Crepe cake that was next level. I highly recommend finding a Lady Wong's (there are a few thorough the city) and grab as much of the treats as you can (known to run out as well).
