They also serve Barry’s Irish Tea, delicious and rich coffee (I usually get an espresso), hot chocolate and hot mulled apple cider.Mary O’s is one of those places that serves you one thing, done very, very well. The menu is simply their Irish Soda Bread Scones with Kerrygold Irish butter and homemade, chunky blackberry jam. (You can opt out of either, but I recommend you take both.)The scones are served right out of the oven. They are crispy on the outside, warm and moist on the inside. The saltiness of the scone, the creaminess of the butter, and the sweet and tanginess of the jam makes a delightful and fun experience. The flavors are clean, simple and rich.I’ve gone on multiple days, at different times each visit, and waited less than 10 minutes. I have definitely arrived after 11am and found them to be sold out and also been served closer to noon. The rule really is until sell out. The earlier you go, the less chance you’ll miss out.Mary O took to making and selling scones during the pandemic and hasn’t stopped. I will continue to return as long as she makes them.There is a tiny step at the entrance of the shop, featured in a video clip, for accessibility consideration. There’s a bathroom for costumers. There are a couple of tables and some window seats. You should plan to take out. There is a bench right outside and plenty of parks nearby.

I expected them to come “assembled” if you will with the butter and jam already spread inside but maybe because we ordered a 6 pack they just put it all on the side to save time? The bites that had a good amount of the butter and jam were really great. The sweet jam played around with how dry the scone was but I’m not sure I would wait in a long line for this again. If the lines ever did die down this would be a fun spot to frequent!

June 28 · AnthonyA Taste of Irish Scones in NYThe love for scones on Saturday There was a long queue ,and on Saturday, Sep 6th,there was a special book signing by Brandon Stanton, author of Dear New York,and the first 100 people could receive a signed of his book.The scones I ate while waiting for the signing were soft and fluffy, more like pancakes or muffins than the crispy ones I was used to,and the combination of milky butter and homemade blackberry jam danced beautifully in my mouth.T.M.I🤫 It was really hot today, so when you pack up these warm blackberries jam butter scones,be sure to bring a fork and tissue.I wanted to eat them right away when they were delicious,but the jam got on my hands and they were sticky,just like today's weather.

Showed up on an early Sunday morning and, even at 7:30 a.m., a couple of teams were already waiting outside.I’ve never had a scone outside of an upscale afternoon tea that really impressed me, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. At $6 a piece, I figured it had to be flawless, and honestly, it was. Moist and soft inside, with just enough crunch on the edges for contrast. The black currant jam and salted butter gave it that sweet–savory punch that made every bite more addictive.Only downside was that unless you ask, they’ll pre-spread the butter and jam, and if you close the box it gets soggy fast (they recommended not to close the box). Locals seemed to know to ask for them on the side, but I found out too late.The shop itself was tiny. Just two little tables and a narrow counter without chairs, so most people seemed to eat them outside or carry them to Tompkins Square Park.
