Shama Restaurant Introduce
Introduction / Overview
Shama Restaurant, located in the bustling Brighton Beach area of Brooklyn, stands out as a dedicated destination for authentic South Asian flavors, specializing in Pakistani and Indian cuisine. More than just a local eatery, Shama operates as a Halal restaurant and a premier 'Barbecue area,' offering New Yorkers a true taste of grilled and curried perfection. The establishment identifies as Asian-owned, deeply rooted in the traditions that make its extensive menu both authentic and incredibly popular.
For New York residents, Shama offers a comprehensive solution for diverse dining needs. It functions as a full-service restaurant, a reliable takeout spot, and a convenient Indian takeaway service. The menu is a vibrant tapestry of dishes, ranging from fiery grilled kebabs and tandoori breads baked fresh in a clay oven to rich, comforting curries and delectable rice specials like Chicken Biryani. With service options including dine-in, delivery, and takeout, Shama is perfectly positioned to serve the dynamic lifestyle of the local community. It caters to a wide audience, from groups looking for a casual meal to solo diners seeking a quick bite, and is particularly popular for lunch, dinner, and even late-night food runs. The commitment to Halal food ensures accessibility to a wider population seeking religiously compliant meals.
The restaurant's atmosphere is casual, making it a relaxing spot for families and groups. It provides essential amenities like a restroom and even accepts reservations for those planning a gathering. By embracing various roles—from a traditional Pakistani barbecue joint to a provider of quick, satisfying comfort food—Shama Restaurant has secured its place as a valued part of the Brooklyn culinary landscape. However, as with any busy, high-volume New York establishment, prospective diners should manage expectations regarding all aspects of the operation, including food preparation and overall maintenance, given the sometimes conflicting nature of public feedback.
Location and Accessibility
Shama Restaurant is strategically located at 232 Neptune Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11235, USA. This placement in the Brighton Beach neighborhood of Brooklyn makes it a central and convenient spot for many locals, particularly those in Southern Brooklyn. The area is known for its diverse culinary offerings and is easily reachable via various modes of transport.
The restaurant is committed to welcoming all members of the New York community, notably offering wheelchair accessibility. This thoughtful amenity ensures that all patrons can comfortably enjoy their dining experience. For those commuting via public transit, the location is a short distance from major subway lines serving the Coney Island and Brighton Beach areas. Driving to Shama is also a possibility, though the standard New York City caution applies: while parking is available, it can often be hard to find near the venue, with patrons occasionally needing to look for street parking. The establishment’s hours of operation are extensive, generally open from early morning until late evening, making it a flexible choice for various schedules, including breakfast, which is a rare and welcome offering in this category.

What is Worth Choosing
Shama Restaurant is an excellent choice for New Yorkers seeking authentic, flavorful, and affordable Pakistani cuisine, with a strong emphasis on Halal meat prepared on the grill. What makes this establishment particularly worth choosing is its dual focus: the quality of its BBQ and Grill and the richness of its home-style Meat Specials.
For first-time visitors or those craving a smoky, savory experience, the barbecue section is the star. Sampling the Chicken Seekh Kebab or the Boneless Chicken Tikka offers a direct taste of the restaurant's skill with the grill. These items provide a delicious, quick bite or a foundation for a larger meal. When combined with a fresh piece of Garlic Naan or a Naan With 2 Kebab Roll sandwich, they represent the best of South Asian street food culture, right here in Brooklyn.
Furthermore, the extensive list of curries and specials, like the Fresh Lamb Or Goat Karahi or the Boneless Chicken Tikka Masala served with rice and salad, offers unbeatable value for a hearty, comforting meal. The menu is structured to allow customers to choose a main protein and enjoy it in multiple forms—grilled, curried, or as a specialty dish like Haleem or Payee. This variety, combined with the convenience of late-night hours and vegetarian options, makes it a highly flexible and appealing dining option for the local New York community. While cleanliness concerns have been raised in public reviews, the persistent local popularity of the restaurant suggests that many patrons continue to value the authenticity, flavor profile, and comprehensive menu offerings that Shama brings to the table. Choosing Shama is choosing a deep dive into genuine Pakistani flavors and a local institution for Halal dining.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1The food was authentic turkish tasted. Loved it. The hummus and soup wow he liked it so much. Lamb chops excellent I loved it. And Adana was amazing for him he loved it.
July 28 · Roy Jong HoonShama Restaurant is absolutely revolting. The two men working there have filthy hands and nails they were picking their noses and then touching the food! Watching them made me want to throw up. No gloves, no hygiene, just pure grossness. The food is tasteless and unsafe. Stay far away unless you want to eat filth.
September 30 · Mirza Bilal AbidExcellent, delicious food, friendly staff working here! Kasim is the best !!
April 01 · YNWA AIYI recently had an extremely disappointing experience at this restaurant. The service was abysmal from the moment we walked in. The staff had no regard for basic customer etiquette, especially when interacting with women—rude and dismissive. It’s unbelievable that a place like this lacks even the most basic understanding of respect and politeness. As for the food, it was just as terrible. I ordered naan, and it was the worst I’ve ever had. The naans were not only burnt, but they were also hard as rocks, making them nearly impossible to eat. The texture was awful, and they had a burnt aftertaste that ruined the whole meal. The entire experience left a bad taste in my mouth. There are so many better options out there that actually care about their customers and put effort into both their food and service. This place doesn’t deserve your time or money.
February 01 · Muhammad Noman NazirThe food was absolutely delicious—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. However, the prices are definitely on the higher side, so it’s more of a special-occasion spot than an everyday stop.
August 10 · Jabed AhmedShama Restaurant is one of the nastiest places I’ve ever walked into. The hygiene is absolutely disgusting. The workers handle food with their bare, dirty hands—no gloves, no care at all. Their nails and hands looked filthy, and honestly, I thought I was going to throw up just watching them prepare the food. On top of that, these same men take orders, serve, and touch everything without ever stopping to wash their hands. Or wearing gloves they dont give a single dam It’s beyond gross. The food itself is just as bad—completely tasteless. Honestly, I don’t know how anyone can sit and eat there. Maybe some people have gotten used to the “flavor” of dirty hands mixed in, but to me, it was straight-up stomach-turning. And let’s be real, if the workers can’t even take care of their own hygienejust look at their teethyou can imagine what’s going on in the kitchen. This place has zero standards, zero professionalism, and zero respect for customers’ health. It’s a breeding ground for illness, not a restaurant. I’ll be reporting them to the food authorities immediately, and I strongly warn anyone who cares about their health stay far away from this place.
