I was working near Grand Central Station and noticed the set menu display on their window. I went with the 19-course omakase which was $150 which was a deal for that many courses...4 appetizers, 12 pieces of nigiri a savory monaka...spicy tuna on a crisp wafer, an A5 wagyu tasting (for an extra $10) and finished with a dessert. The service was very attentive throughout. I didn't order alcohol and stuck with green tea so I can't vouch for the cocktails. The appetizers that stood out was the snow crab butter soup. It had chunks of crab in the soup. The other app was the oyster topped with salmon roe. I can taste the ocean of the raw oyster, it was so fresh. The nigiri course was fresh and artfully prepared by the master sushi chef. My favorites were the uni from Hokkaido and the ebi with uni on top which was creamy, rich and melt-in-your-mouth delicious. For dessert, I was served tiramisu. While I've read others received a matcha version, mine was a more traditional style in an individual cup. It wasn't especially "Japanese fusion," but it was still a tasty way to end the meal.I went on a Sunday for lunch and wasn't crowded at all. But I heard that weekdays they're pretty booked up. I suggest calling to make reservations.Overall, Shogun Omakase delivered on quality, service and value. I'd definitely return and recommend it to anyone looking for an omakase experience near Grand Central. - Yin Lau
