It redefines the fine dining experience by offering a timed, high-end omakase in a cozy, speakeasy-style setting. This isn’t your typical sushi restaurant; it’s a modern and trendy concept that focuses on the artistry of the chef and the quality of the ingredients. The restaurant, which is part of a celebrated chain, is known for its ability to deliver a luxurious, chef-driven tasting menu without the pretense of a traditional fine dining establishment. For New Yorkers looking for a special and unforgettable meal that is both fast-paced and deeply satisfying, Sushi By Bou offers a compelling proposition. This article is your guide to exploring what makes this Japanese and sushi restaurant a standout destination in the city’s bustling food scene.
The core of the Sushi By Bou experience is the omakase, a Japanese phrase meaning "I'll leave it up to you." By entrusting your meal to the skilled chef, you embark on a culinary journey where each piece of sushi is a meticulously crafted work of art. The atmosphere is a blend of upscale elegance and laid-back comfort, with an intimate setting and a soundtrack of hip-hop music that adds a modern New York twist. This unique combination of high-quality cuisine and a cool, trendy vibe makes it popular for both a special occasion and a spontaneous solo dining adventure. The timed format of the meal ensures a focused and efficient experience, making it a great option for a pre-theater dinner or a late-night bite. It’s an ideal choice for anyone who appreciates fresh, expertly prepared sushi and wants to experience it in a truly unique and memorable setting.
Sushi By Bou - NOMAD NYC is located at 32 E 32nd St, New York, NY 10016, inside Hotel 32|32. The central location makes it highly accessible for locals and tourists alike, as it is within easy walking distance of major subway stations and bus stops. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Been to a couple of their other locations, but had to stop by this one and was genuinely impressed. The food, the service, the atmosphere was all amazing. My favorite part about this chain is how small and intimate the space is, and the interior design is always beautiful & different at each location. But this has to be best location yet since there was a small Japanese theme bar next door where you could continue to hang out.Razo, was so welcoming and kind and made the experience that much better! We will definitely be coming back for their tuna tour!
July 20 · Emma NarayanWas gifted a gift certificate for sushi by Bou for a present from my brother and sil so we just had to go try it out. Everyone there were super nice and attentive. The food and drinks were absolutely amazing. I was told this place was pretty fast paced but honestly, it felt perfectly fine for my husband and I. All the fish were so fresh and the flavor combinations the chef put together was incredible. We added on the "Big Mac" add on at the very end, even though we were extremely stuffed from our 17 course omakase and it was worth stuffing it down! Would definitely come back again!
March 13 · Carolyn Y (Cypianist)$65 for a course of 12 sushi. The atmosphere is great, eating sushi with neon nights and hip hop music. The food is great , I especially like the uni and miso cod sushi.
September 14 · EscilpeWhat a great little spot! Such a vibe, sushi and drinks were spot on. We did the 12 course omakase and ordered some additional pieces. Staff was attentive and it's such a great vibe here playing 90s hip-hop. There is even a little speakeasy in the back with fun claw machines. Will def come back for the 17 course.
July 13 · Jenna DiPaoloWe went here for the $65 pp omakase. This is quite a deal for weekend night in nyc. We enjoyed the scallop, shrimp, chopped tuna, and roe particularly. I wasn’t accustomed to or the largest fan of having a big mound of ginger but no soy sauce or wasabi. The ambience is loud despite the small space with loud music and loud decor.
