Sushi Counter Introduce
In a city where quality sushi can often come with a hefty price tag, Sushi Counter in the West Village is a welcome and exciting exception. This charming spot on Christopher Street has quickly earned a reputation for doing one thing exceptionally well: providing fresh, delicious, and incredibly affordable hand rolls. Inspired by the "Aussie-style" of sushi, the rolls are meant to be a quick, easy, and satisfying meal on the go. Sushi Counter's philosophy is simple: good food doesn't have to be expensive, and everyone should be able to enjoy high-quality sushi.
The concept is straightforward, which allows the team to focus on quality and efficiency. The menu is concise, centered around hand rolls that are generously filled and perfectly seasoned. Customers rave about the fact that the rolls are so flavorful they don't even need soy sauce. While the space itself is small, designed primarily for takeout, the atmosphere is casual and trendy. The friendly and engaging staff are a major highlight, making every customer feel welcome and valued. For those who want to linger, there is a small seating area near the window, perfect for a quick bite while watching the world go by on bustling Christopher Street.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I love stopping by and grabbing a quick bite. I always get the three rolls which is so affordable for the quality. This time I got the Salmon, Spicy Shrimp and Tempura Shrimp. I didn’t need to use any soy sauce since everything was seasoned well (esp the Spicy Shrimp and Tempura Shrimp). There’s no tables inside since it’s meant to be for takeout but there is a small seating area that probably fits two people near the window. Definitely recommend!
April 05 · Nicole KimThis place came in highly recommended and lived up to the hype, went with a friend, we each got the 3 roll deal and I got a miso soup. It was all great, the guy who helped us was really nice and engaging, we got a little loyalty card that we’ll sure fill up! Great price point for NYC.
July 17 · Maria LiaVery affordable and tasty sushi rolls that are likely catered towards the student population of the area.Service was quick since all you need to do is go in and choose which rolls (premade and in a display) you’d like and they ring you up. Everything tastes the way you’d except it to, and prices are amazingly affordable for NYC!Heads up, but there aren’t that many areas for seating inside the restaurant (some seats for max. 3-4 people next to the window) but you can quickly eat your rolls standing up inside the store if it isn’t too crowded.
August 29 · mimiOverall rating: 4.6Price: $13.06I came to visit after seeing a video that they had really affordable and filling sushi. I got the spicy tuna roll, shrimp tempura and special roll. I didn’t realize it was run by Australians which felt very unique. I read somewhere that the sushi is Australian-style which I’m not sure what that means exactly. I wish I ate at the place because I tried to eat on the go & my hands were freeeezzing. Eventhough the place was cute, the staff was friendly- I didn’t love the food. I don’t like spicy mayo a lot & it seems like they put it in everything. That said, I overheard someone mentioned the spam version & the staff said it was a seasonal item. So I now want to come back when it’s in season to try it!
March 03 · Olivia NEverything about this place is awesome! The food, the service, the price, all of it! I have a gluten sensitivity and was so sad that I couldn’t have sushi, but I found this place and it’s a life changer!!! Definitely try the shrimp tempura rolls✨💕
